Re: Floating Prints

Hi Dave - I also have a Mac but don't appear to have any problems opening the files. I can open them either by clicking on the picture or on 'Slideshow' and I seem to remember that by clicking on slideshow you will be asked if you wish to download a file that allows the presentations to be read. Hop...

Re: Deep Rebate options

Good Morning Arqadia's frame box is very simple to use - it does not have the name embossed into the side. One can use a combination of the different depths to achieve the depth required. If more than one level of box moulding is used then I normally glue them together using PVA and pin with thin fr...

Re: New member from Portland,Dorset

Good Afternoon Brian Welcome to the Forum. My advice to you with regard to cleaning your tapestry is to leave well alone however, should you wish to attempt to improve its appearance then take it to a conservator. There are numerous hidden problems that could manifest themselves during any cleaning ...

Re: Identifying UV glass

A couple of further thoughts. As the previous posts have correctly identified the framing cannot be considered as conservation if the artwork touches the glass. Which perhaps leads me on to believe that when you eventually get your hands on it and open up the frame you may well find that the print h...

Drawn Thread Mount

I was asked to replicate a mount on the pattern of a Drawn Thread cross stitch by a lady who had tried several framers who had turned her down. The design was reasonably simple for a CMC user but difficult otherwise. The design was not in the extensive Valiani shape folder and so using the New shape...

How Long is piece of String

Just finished framing a item of needlepoint, fortunately the needlepoint was very well done and not out of square; the size was 955mm x 335mm. Laced it onto 2.8mm Arqadia conservation board which took a fair amount of time but of interest I calculated how much cotton crocket I had used in lacing and...

Re: 5 levels of framing question

Yes - I believe that to be the case. Certainly when I frame my own photos that are giclee printed on fine art paper I use buffered conservation boards as the printing process obviously does not use emulsions and the only connection to any photographic process is by taking the photograph in the first...
