If you look at the instructions on the Wessex link, you’ll see that it screws into the original frame giving a really strong combined frame, hence the reason for the slope on the sub frame

With mouldings like this I always go for chop service. Costs more upfront but saves you time and therefore money in the long run. LJ, Lion and Wessex all offer this and saves a lot of sweat and swearing!

Mark is absolutely right - condition of stamps is everything and as soon as the gum is compromised the value plummets. Try looking up Hawid stamp mounts - they're a ready made folder style mount used by collectors that encapsulates the stamps and enables you to place a mount around them.
