Re: Rolled Giclee prints
That was the very first thing I tried (courtesy of of that Swedish furniture shop) and it failed, it will probably work on thin paper but for thick fine art Giclee type prints it can leave ridges where the leading edge rolls against itself.

Re: Rolled Giclee prints
Hi I print giclees sometimes from a 76mm diameter roll, the prints always come off curled and the first thing I do is have to flatten them. I have ruined a few by trying to do it by unrolling by hand only, on very curly paper it fights you and you get creases, therefore only unroll using a long tube...

Re: Aluminium moulding supplier?
Yes I have seen them thanks, I have not found much else.
I will try a test frame using a supplier that chops unless anything else pops up....
Cheers...

Re: Glass problems...
Just a quick update. Spoke to Wessex and they admit they had a small batch of faulty glass and they replaced my remaining sheets with new sheets, the difference is remarkable. In the meantime I found a blog from a picture framer who used white vinegar and distilled water to get rid of difficult glas...

Re: Glass problems...
Well its Wessex I get my glass from and its a real, real, real pig. I have spent 40 minutes trying to clean 1 sheet of glass. Its got leopard spots, its got huge circles from the suction cup touched it, its got tiger stripes, its 920 not 915, its got everything wrong with it, towards the end of 40 m...

Re: Glass problems...
Bugger, it looks like something I am going to have to live with. I was hoping to make everything in bulk (by my standards) and leave unassembled until needed as my workshop is so small each step is a shag and hassle setting for each stage of the frame making process. It would appear this isnt the wa...

Loan or rental???
I have a HGP220 vacum hotpress but might to use a larger one occasionally. I might end up selling the HGP220 and buying a larger model (260 or 360) at some stage if the requirement is frequent. Until then would anybody be able to let me use or rent theirs for a few hours? I will of course provide al...

Glass problems...
I recently bought 20sheets of standard 2mm float glass, from the same supplier that I have bought from for a few years. I have 2 problems with it. 1. I often make batches of standard sized frames that are 915x700 and 915x522. The recent batch of glass is 920mm wide which means I have to trim 5mm str...
Re: tape
I dont know if everybody is aware of UK Industrial Tapes online price list, no logon or registration required to view. I emailed them a month ago asking if they would do carton prices for 2 or 4 types of tape, eg 1/2 carton of one tape and 1/2 carton of another for respective per carton price but th...

Re: workbench surfaces - multi functional
Thanks all for the top tips. I thought I may need bracing but the MDF seems quite sturdy, perhaps because there is a 10cm overhang on the edges (so I could sit at it at a push) there is not that much sag yet, I bought extra timber for braces but they are currently uncut, maybe I will take your advic...

workbench surfaces - multi functional
Hi All I have just build a workbench for a very cramped work space that is shared with a 44" printer and 44" jet mounters. As the printer and jetmounter are on Castors I thought this would be a good idea to continue to the workbench. Its all assembled and is 1220 wide by around 160cm long,...

Re: Morso for Sale - Manual or Pneumatic
I think the Morso is pretty similar to the Morso H, as in this link http://www.ashworthandthompson.co.uk/eq ... rso-h.html at £3400 (presumably plus VAT)

Morso for Sale - Manual or Pneumatic
I have a pneumatic morso which can be run either manually with your foot or via the pneumatic kit that is included, (you will need a compressor). Markings are metric, rebate supports and offcut chute are included. It could probably do with the blades sharpening. No space in my flat for it any longer...

Wanted - Large cold laminator
I need to laminate some 44" wide prints and want to try face mounting on acrylic, it doesn't need to be heated (from what I have read)... I have a few trips around the UK in the next month or so so should be able to collect and pay cash..

Re: Filling occasional corner gaps....
Jeeze, such comprehensive answers. I must admit I am blown away by people who share and help on this website. I have learnt a few things from this thread already, I have never clamped after underpinning and gluing, is this reserved for just the largest of frames? James you make it sound so easy! I m...
