Re: 1959 Frame label

The lower case letters were not dialed. The name was put in so that you knew what the Exchange (area) was.

Polypropylene Paper

Does anyone know who sells Polypropylene Paper in sheets rather than rolls? I'm just starting to try putting photos onto clear acrylic blocks. The first attempt, on glossy photo paper, showed some silvery effect on the photo. One video on YouTube from http://www.canvasandstretcherbars.co.uk recommen...

As a non-member I just registered with the website. The CPDTalk is an open forum and I did get as far as creating a comment but didn't post it. The other forum is restricted and indicated that I didn't have the right access.

Re: Cutting Rulers

The price of Keencut rulers seems to be almost fixed but I recently purchase a 1200 from www.psw.co.uk and saved myself a few pounds. Postage at the time was £6 + VAT.

Wessex Pictures Hot Press Open Days

Yesterday I went to the Wessex Pictures Hot Press Open Day at Leatherhead. It was well attended and I certainly felt that I learnt a lot. Well done Wessex (and Steve Goodall). If you get a chance to go to their future events I would recommend them.

Re: Spring Fair

I went to the Spring Fair for the first time today and thought I would give my feedback. . I was only really interested in the framing and laminating side but did look around further. The big 3 (Simons, Lion and Wessex) accounted for about 90% of the framing interest. As someone still on the learnin...

Re: End of Windows XP support.

You may find that either some of your software or hardware may not work when you upgrade. I've found that I've had to keep one XP machine to run some applications where the data is not available elsewhere or in a post XP version. You may find some old CDs will not play. Depending upon the current ma...

Re: Spring Fair

I'm intending to go but haven't decided which day. This will be my first visit. I haven't received any response about the Fine Art sessions (mentioned in the Lion website).

Re: Laminating courses

Thanks for the responses.
The episodes I've seen on You Tube seem to focus on individual machines. The ones on the Zenith laminators looked good. However they don't tell you what materials to choose (and how) and similar questions. And most important are the things not to do.

Thanks

Laminating courses

I'm looking at learning about the basics of laminating (for photographs). This will be at the lower volume/cost market whilst trying to do a quality job. Are there any other reasonable courses other than Lion (I've not have replies from them) that members are aware of (preferably in S E England)? Th...

Re: iPad apps

Alan,
In correspondence with the Frame Builder support they included "I'm working currently on a new in-app to offer the possibility to add custom
mouldings from photo.". So it sounds as though they did take your suggestion on board.

iPad apps

If you have an iPad you may be interested in a couple of apps. I've just written a review for 'Frame Builder' but don't know whether it has been accepted. The website is https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/frame-builder-virtual-photo/id530871584?mt=8 . It allows for a quick visualisation of your artwork...

Re: Pistorius vn-m nails

Thanks Ricky. Sorted at last. It took a nudge from a rubber headed hammer to move the block. It took a lot of trial and error to get the hammer working to the right depth.
Thanks again.

Re: Pistorius vn-m nails

Ricky, Thanks very much for this and for responding. It is very useful. I took the 2 screws out and tried to adjust the plate but the screws seemed as though they would only go in the original location. As you are aware space is very confined and it is difficult to see. I've posted a photo with the ...
