Pricing App.
I spent some time a while back working on a pricing app that I could use on my iPad, iPhone and PC. I’m considering reviving it and offering it to fellow framers. It’s quite simple and doesn’t have the bells and whistles that some of the others have but is is functional and may be all somebody needs...

iPhone or android phone is all you need for Instagram. You could spend weeks thinking about it or just get on with it.

Re: I am thinking about starting a blog for my business.
Instagram is probably the best bet if you want to find customers as well as showcase your work. Blogs are a little passive and a bit outdated.

Re: Which accounting software.
I just use a spreadsheet and submit a ‘cash book’ to my accountant. I tried sage one which was overkill. Keep it simple.

My latest prints. A hanger for panels or canvases. Use on its own or in pairs and a traditional keyhole hanger.

Re: 3D printing
I have a Flashforge ADV3. I don’t use it for framing related work but for developing ideas around the easels I build, prototyping etc
I do however use a CNC for framing related jobs.

Re: Hanging Artwork Flat Against Wall
I came up with these a while back. They attach to the back of the frame/canvas and give a stand off of about 15mm which gives a nice floating effect.

For glass and board I use a wall mounted Excalibur 5000, it frees up a lot of work surface.

I screw a removable piece of plywood to the back, leave it to project a little and it gives a little corner protection too.

Re: Big advice wanted for a big frame
It doable apart from glazing. I’m sure acrylic is available In that size it just depends on how many arms and legs the customer has to spare. The moulding could be joined either with a scarf joint or a lap Joint but it would need a decent metal plate at the rear Reinforce things. You would also need...

Re: Turnover
I use social media and my website. No walk ins or visitors to the workshop. I don’t sell glazed frames and don’t do football shirts or needlework. Ive put up my prices and turn down a lot of work. I’ve never been busier…and I’m trying to slow down. So, in order of importance… 1. Make the most of soc...

Re: What are your favorite bare woods for mouldindings and why?
As most of my frames are painted it matters not. I like tulip the most I think, but it’s only available in so many profiles. I use hundreds of feet of oak but that is for easels, not frames. I like oak.
