"Not your average framer" and "Old Master" are just user names, as I'm guessing yours is too "cuthbert", surely that's not your real name? I'm guessing it's more like "knob end"
Sorry John, but it's needs saying.

Re: Another non-white mount...
Having not read the book (but I might well do), is it not just another person/persons view on how things should be done? ie their opinion? I've seen so many framing styles over the years, many which I like and equally or more that I don't. Surely it's about happy customers, regardless of the "r...

Re: How long have you been a framer?

Front up, if you are doing multiple apertures , best to draw it out lightly with pencil.

Re: Reverse bevel
Just get a test bit of mount board, set the side stop to required width, draw a light pencil line, then check to see size as the tip of blade touches the pencil line, will be approx 4/5mm, ie top and bottom stop at +4 or 5mm, then cut it, no over or undercut and you are there, turn it over and pop t...

Re: Sealing The Window Mount to the under mount
Think of the poor framer who may have to change the mount in the future, keep the sticking together to the minimum if you can. Can't really agree with this I'm afraid, if a framer is re-doing this in the future, ie new mount, then it's likely they will provide a new backing mount, I know I would. A...

Re: Sealing The Window Mount to the under mount
Give the customer what he wants, double sided tape or a few spots of pva, job done. As long as the backing mount is the same overall size and the artwork isn't in contact with any adhesives(other than what it's hinged with) it'll be fine.

Re: What do you do if...
I did it on 2 jobs today, removed loads of masking tape, which didn't do any damage as it was all falling off anyway, replaced with ph7-70, then wrote a note on the back of the mounts.......they were only re glazing jobs and I didn't need to do it but masking tape is evil lol
