Re: Memorial plaque (dead man's penny) mounting problems

I saw a 3D printed bracket custom printed for a coin somewhere, anyway I will be buying a 3d printer soon for this kind of thing, not sure if I will ever get back what I spend, but this is just too cool to pass on.

Re: Help needed to frame wedding shoes

Your strips could have been much thinner, we have used them at just 2 mm wide, they are incredibly strong, of course it does depend on the integrity of the item you are framing.

Re: Lion's new chevrons

I suspect the pieces of moulding used to make the Chevron are from two separate batches one left one right that would give you the problems you see on the picture.

Re: Sloping back edge on moulding

You misunderstood how I meant it to be used, not the same as other suggestions, a picture will work, that's the umbra range, I use lots of it, pinned right it's fine.

Re: Sloping back edge on moulding

Easy!

Trim the lip off a small piece, cut it backwards and make an anti Chevron this can the be used upside down behind the moulding effectively creating a flat back, I can post a picture next time I go in the workshop

Re: Barrier boards with corro-cor/art bak?

Nobody has mentioned the main reason why you shouldn't attach the artwork to the backing board, even if it's 100 % cotton rag and 5 mm thick, it would still have a fundamental flaw.

Re: (Mitred) Joints!

I think you know the answer anyway. A mitred joint is the weakest possible joint as it relies solely on the glue on two facing surfaces. Which is why it is underpinned or splined or biscuited - as these give additional surface area for the glue to attach. A sliding dovetail, on the other hand, is a...

Normally with this type of mechanism you loosen a gear and slide it, often there will be a gear just for tentioning, which does not seem to be on that machine, so I would assume the motor it's self will slide, give me a photo of that part and I will give you an idea which.

http://www.inkjetservice.co.uk/ These guys are pretty much the best in the business, that said it's gonna cost about £500 with call out, when you say clean the heads what's the problem you are having, often the problem isn't heads but blocked dampers, or if you have a block of missing lines it could...
