Re: COLD WEATHER

Re: COLD WEATHER
My tips: keep your core warm with lots of layers and then your extremities will do better. Wear woolly or thermal bands on your wrists (cut up a pair of old socks) wear a scarf or snood round your neck Keep moving, walking up stairs or stepping up onto a box will put your heart rate up, and lots of ...

And then there is the saying that something is only 'worth' what somebody else will pay for it: indicating that ultimately the person with the money to spend could decide the price ! Except of course in the case of energy - do they have us over a barrel?

Re: can a facemounted acrylic be consevation standard
And there are artists making their 'communications' in materials which they know have a limited lifespan, as in acid laden paper, stapled with rusting staples and ink which will fade quickly, intending that the work is ephemeral, and then some wealthy person spends a lot of money buying it, wants to...

Re: Customer indecision
And what psychological techniques should I use to 'up sell' to the customer who immediately firmly states 'I want a white mount and a plain black frame'? And the artwork isn't monochrome.?

Re: Packaging customers work
I reuse every scrap of packaging I can lay my hands on, corrugated from wrapped moulding deliveries, mount board delivery boxes, glass sheet box cardboard, if that runs out I use bubble wrap. Some customers bring their wrappings back For 're- reuse! Some people try to take their pictures without wra...

Like to use it as a varnish as it dries fast. Can also be applied using a rubber, e.g.: cloth wrapped around cotton wool,

Re: Fixing Pastels
I would just like to reiterate what has been said above, I have been taught and learned that its not tthe framers job to fix pastels, or interfere with any original artwork in any way. Pastels : have a big gap between the pastel and the glass and seal all gaps in an attempt to reduce airflow.

There maybeclues as to how good the mount is by looking at the rest of the mounting package - is there an undermount, does it look whitecore?is the artwork hinged with appropriate tape?

I also wanted to do this but Unfortunately it's not recommended as the vacuum really needs porous materials to be effective.

I had a pistorius for many years which was very sturdy and okish, but now have a foot operated cassesse one, and its really good, I have a low volume of work with very differing frame profiles, very easy to change the wedge size and everything.

Re: Nightmare on Tulipwood Street
The thing about cars is the rapid change in temperature which can occur, e.g. plummets to cold in winter once you park switch heater off or reverse on sunny day. Not so bad if frame is insulated in bubble wrap! Or in the boot, but I recommend big glazed pictures have seat belt round them.

Re: Nightmare on Tulipwood Street
Did you ask where your customer had hung the pictures? Above a fire/radiator? Is their central heating turned up high at the moment? in my experience non framing people don't think about these things, I also advise people not to leave pictures in their cars while they go off do other shopping. But I...
