Hi Lyn, Hope your feeling a lot better now? My advice (for whats it worth), stay away from the low end mouldings, start as you mean to go on, go for mouldings from the middle range upwards. OK, have a few low end mouldings in stock for little Johnny's finger painted piece from school, etc., but dont...

Getting The Customer

Hi, Like FN, we dont bother much with advertising anymore, it is a complete waste of time and money, there are so many adverts in newspapers now-a-days, no one actually reads them, having said that, our daughter works in advertising for one of the local newspapers, and now and again when she does a ...

Hi Drew, The cost of 2 extra pieces of Ivory mountboard, we stood that, the Black board we had originally used for the background, was able to be used for other jobs, so no one lost out, especially me...hahahahaha. With very careful use (and patience) of a scapel I was able to remove the 4 pieces of...

Hi John, This is becoming more and more of a problem, and not just the odd isolated case. I have spoken to my supplier and he has lso informed me that he is getting quite a lot of moulding brought back as it is no use to man nor beast. I would only keep the shorter lengths if it was for an urgent or...

Hi Drew, Design an A5 flyer, print approx. the amount of postal addresses in your immediate area, (you can get this info at the post office by looking at the Electoral Role), either go to the expense of paying a professional mail shot company (very expensive), or do what I do 2 or 3 times a year, go...

Busy Christmas

Hi V Nail, Did you notice I named and shamed myself? With regard the customer, he as always had a smile on his face, I do quite a lot of memorabilia framing for him each year. He did say though that: that because of the vast amount I frame for him, I should have known what colour the background shou...

Busy Christmas

Hi Markw, Like you, I would always use a dark colour, especially black for newspapers, but 'apparently' I should have known that this particular client has all his memorabilia backed with either Ivory or cream...ish. But how and ever, he went away perfectly satisfied when he collected the rebacked i...

Hi Folks, Sorry I havent been around for a while, its been the same here, hectic, liken it to a magician pulling a rabbit from a hat, they can just keep coming. I am also in agreement withn FN, its hard to keep up with high standards with constant pressure, but we endeavour to do our best under extr...

Artists

Hi, Like all framers I suppose, we get asked by artists to bang it into a frame, with the hope that if it eventually sells the customer will change the frame to suit themselves. I recently framed a few pieces by an artist for the Patel Society of Ireland, and they basically wanted them banged into a...

Hi FN, Havent heard of the Danish system, this works on the same principle, you lease it, not buy it, the uploads / downloads are free, etc. Like I said, the only part I personally liked was the interactivity section, but still had my reservations about that, i.e. offering a client far too much choi...

Hi More So,

Not using Estlite in my workshop I was unaware of this aspect. Having said that, I do support John and Estlite through my Framing School and have a basic set up on my computer to show the students, but thats as far as it goes........sorry for any misguided optimism!!!

Morso Supports

Hi,

I totally agree, why not take this up with Morso, I believe that they have
venturing into the more exotic
ventured into the more exotic as you state, because of the influc of deep rebated mouldings onto the market today, and in direct response to demands for such rebate supports.

Morso Supports

Hi Folks, Just thought I'd share this with all you Morso users. 2 Weeks ago I recieved a new set of rebate supports from Morso to 'Road Test' They are specifically designed for deep rebated mouldings, and not as a replacement of your original supports, they dont work on anything less than 33mm deep....

Hi Frameus, The company 'Artpool' you refer to is also called Blink Red which I refrerred to in an earler posting for this thread, I think I even listed their website link! I was unaware of the cost per month, but you live and learn, and they use all Arqadia's mouldings and mountboards. http://www.b...

Hi Mick11, Funnily enough Mick, I had not thought of using a digital camera (was way too early to think that hard), , but whilst taking to someone else about it in the workshop, I did manage to remember the camera angle. Hi Mark,

What makes you think you are getting the printer? Maybe, just maybe its time for it to float its way across the pond, eh?

Steven

PS

If I win a new printer, I could sell it and put the money towards a Epson 2100, and if I was to win it, I'd gleefully start drinking ....again!!!!!!

FATG Survey

Hi, Cant win, can you? Anyone that knows me will know that I for one am the first (sometimes the only one) to stick up for the Guild, when everyone else is having a pop. I think that ABT is one of the best magazines around, and I agree that fair enough they are trying, I just happen to disagree with...
