Re: I've got the wobbles!
Interesting point Graham, we have that film on the windows here is Polzeath but not in Port Isaac (just the way the units were when we took them over). Thanks for the info Tudor Rose. I have stopped using the conversation Art Bak a few weeks ago, it will be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

Re: Dry mounting
There is one bit missing in the original post Dry Mounting...... Photographs I must be in the camp that agrees when the word photographs is added as that is exactly what started to do with my photographs 2 months ago. The only compromise I have made is that, unlike in the training manuals, I do not ...

Re: I've got the wobbles!
This one was in the Gallery at the top of Port Isaac so probably more likely to be the wreckers mist!

Re: I've got the wobbles!
My first thought was there wasn't enough elbow room for the inner package. If it can't expand sideways it will go ~~~~~~~~. Bigger the board the more it will grow. :o ..... I guess there was about 0.5mm on 2 sides when flush on the other 2 sides. The 2000 micron mount is fine it is the 1400 micron ...

I've got the wobbles!
Have just taken this out of our sunny window after a week. The mount is nice and flat, the undermount is doing a good impression of the rolling country side. The back board was pinned with about 12 to 15cm spacing on the sides (this is double the spacing I would like, not sure how that happened!), t...

Re: Professional Picture Framers Association UK & Ireland
Sorry that I have been part of the dilution of this thread, and as such I thought I should add that I agree with Robo - new threads for the discussion/comparison. Not much of an excuse but I always come onto the website and click "view active posts" and pay no attention to the category. I ...

Re: Professional Picture Framers Association UK & Ireland
Sorry I did not mean for my poor humour detract from a nice clear website, and from those working hard to try and make a difference. I think it is a shame that the FATG is not felt to be doing enough of the right thing to attract all picture framers to be active members (one strong trade body should...

Re: Professional Picture Framers Association UK & Ireland
Artsure and correct methods for stringing are worthwhile subjects which could easily be discussed in the general discussion section, but the purpose of the announcements section is a little different and the original subject does appear to have been replaced by other subjects. Its a small wo...

Re: Professional Picture Framers Association UK & Ireland
Not with a hanger that tight :-) Interesting, never thought to check that on youtube or the Forum! Most of our prints are quite heavy so once hung, even though it is low stretch cord, it will stretch at least 1/3 of the way up the frame so I thought it better to start tight  Just checked with...

Re: Professional Picture Framers Association UK & Ireland
I see it doesn't cost much extra to join Artsure , but do you feel you get much benefit from being a member? Admittedly I'm no longer a FATG member, but I'd never heard of it until you mentioned it in your post. To be honest I don't think that it has increased sales as yet but that is only because ...

Re: Professional Picture Framers Association UK & Ireland
Ian Many thanks for the comprehensive reply. We joined the Guild last year so am reasonably aware of the Guilds aims though I mainly joined to be able to sign up to the Artsure scheme. I think what prompted my original post was why now open a UK arm of the PPFA when sure the Guild covers picture fra...

Re: Professional Picture Framers Association UK & Ireland
I know nothing about the history of the trade associations within this industry but I will type on regardless! The Fine Art Trades Guild includes framers? I am guessing that some framers must feel poor represented by them and hence are possibly promoting the idea of the more specialist PPFA? Is it n...

I am not sure if I am opening a can of worms, but what is the difference between this and the Fine Art Trade Guild?

Re: Adobe CC
I bought On1 10 which can be used with photoshop as a plug in (though not with my ancient cs3). The main reason I bought it was for the Resize program it used to be known as fractal graphics and is invaluable for me who has to blow up stupidly small images to the clients requirements. Even if the s...

Re: Advice on buying and cutting mountboard
If you fancy a couple of days away the Photography show is on from the 19th to 22nd March. At a quick glance I can see that Longridge are exhibiting as well as DIY framing who I bought my first mount cutter, a Logan, from 5 years ago when I visited the show. You can get to try them for yourself whic...

Re: Pneumatic underpinner
I use an XL2 version of this one currently advertised on this Forum http://theframersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14027 The jaws drop down leaving a flat surface to slide the moulding in and out which is brilliant particularly with large frames. That option is something like £500 extra but well...

Re: Moulding for Canvas
We frame ours "floating in the frames. I never leave the canvas proud, partly as there is no protection or the canvas if it fell flat on its face. When we fame with no gap between the canvas and frame then I leave the front of the canvas flush with front of the frame. More often we use a big ch...
