How do I frame an All Black Rugby Jersey?

Hi I'm willing to 'try' but I just need a few pointers about how to go about it. An Irish rugby fanatic friend has commissioned me to frame a jersey - I've framed a few people in my time, but never a jersey! I'm hopeful you will be able to offer a few clues as to how I may go about it. When I've mas...

A suggestion

When I compile a Quotation I'd like a field which "accepts" the quote and a place for the signatory. Is this a possible feature? Also - as part of a Quotation I'd like to have a few lines to explain what the framing consists of e.g "Map print adhered to perfect mountboard, non reflect...

cleaning glass

What do people find is the best method top clean glass, - paper towel, fibre cloth? I'm using True Vue Premium clean glass cleaner but I've yet to find a cleaning medium that works well with the cleaner solution.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Cheers

Moeraki Boulders

Hi John Very interesting, but for me to see a photo of the Moeraki Boulders. Not a lot of people know but Moeraki is a coastal town in the South Island of NZ north of Dunedin (Edinburgh of the South). Scattered along the beach at Moeraki the boulders are a popular visitor attraction. The soft mudsto...

Framing screen print

Hi team I am reframing a signed / numbered screen print. It was framed like a poster hard onto the glass - and as a result has mildew marks etc. The client wants it like it was - no matboards. I was thinking to adhere it to Crescent perfect Mount adhesive mounting board, and then space it off the gl...

Coffee stain

I tried to dilute the coffee stain with pure water - I tried it on the edge of the print that would be hidden under the matt board. No success really. I imagine coffee is one of the hardest stains to be rid of. I used a triple mount, - a double mount right on the print, the inner one being a coffee ...

Thanks Stephen. I've made a T hinge double strength by fixing two strips together. Thanks for your advice. Hi, For heavier art i use Gummed Linen Hinging Tape (Archival Quality) This is a lot stronger than the paper, but wont break as easily if the art work falls, resulting in the art ripping and no...

Re: hinges

Hello and thanks Jerome for your link. I think two hinges will do actually with some positioning ones along the side. There is some good info in that link. Thanks again You did not exactly say how heavy the paper art is. If you are not sure that 2 hinges will do, 3 - 4 can also be used along the top...

Seeking Advice on Pass-through float hinges.

Hi everyone
I'm floating a reasonably heavy work of art measuring 750 x 280mm and would like to know how many pass through float hinges I should use.

I was thinking of Two xtra strength hinges at the top, two in the middle and a couple of 'Z' hinges at the bottom.

Yours Aye

Not so square frames

I'm glad someone else is having troubles with open frames on inside edge. I get moulding supplied already chopped to suit my artwork, and it suits because I have a small shop with not much room for stock. I've had difficulty in joining the frames with my underpinner, I suspected the chops but it was...

Coffee Stain on print

Hi A colleague has brought an original print to me for framing. The 1st thing I noticed about the print was that coffee had been spilled over a small part of it. He wasn't worried but, I want to get rid of it, if I can. Is there a diluted janola type product out there that would absorb the stain and...

Framing Certificates

I've never framed a certificate, i.e a diploma, university degree etc. I've seen them framed hard up against the glass and thought there has to be a better way. Is it better to mount them on adhesive perfect mount foamboard to give some rigidity and space them off the glass using the Framespacer str...

Software...

Hi Does anyone use software to show a customer how their print would look before it was actually framed. What I have in mind is images of a range of mouldings, and a selection of matboard images and a programme which would allow selection of mats and mouldings to provide a preview of how the finishe...

Here's another idea :P

John Sometimes I wish to pass on things at cost, like say a large frame I get someone else to chop and join. It would be nice to be able to do a manual entry, but as I write I realise you can do that by doing a moulding by price entry and altering the $ to get the value you want. Ok, that wasn't suc...

Job sheets and record keeping

Hi I'm interested in What other like-minded framers use to keep track of all the other info that isn't captured in estlite to do with making out a job sheet designing the layout etc. Does anyone have a template they can post to give me an idea? Also I'm into lines on window mats. There is always one...

creases

Hi everybody for your thoughts and suggestions. I posted in the Aussie picture framers forum and got some good tips. I like the sound of Steven's suggestion so will proceed cautiously over the weekend and let you know.

Thanks everybody, I knew I could rely on you.

Creases on rice paper - and how do I get them out?

I have a rubbing on rice paper to frame which has numerous creases on it - (as a result of the owner bringing it back from oversea flat-packed in a suitcase!). One most visble where paper has been folded in half. I have placed in on foamboard and sandwiched it between a couple of sheets of 2mm clear...

Here's an idea

Hi John
What about a feature that allows one to save a jpeg of the finished works of art which is associated with the final invoice. It would be a record for the framer of the finished product.

What do you think?

Description of re-frame work

Hello John
Is it possible to have more space 3-4 lines, say in the remarks section for a more detailed description of the work carried out. I'm getting a lot of reframe insurance work and necessarily need to spell out exactly what I did on the invoice.

Just a thought...
cheers
