Re: Best quality strap clamps
I recently got hold of a secondhand frame Co Steel band clamp from lions. It's been really great on oak moulding that's a bit warped/twisted.
I also have a set of Ulmia clamps, which work well but as was said before, leave holes that need filling.

Yes, i see what you're saying. I do like the middle one and the left one is interesting, is that Aluminium?
My mentor is into clean lines/ minimalist finish, so its good to see things outside of that box, thanks.

Re: Hoffman Dovetail Router vs Cassese Underpinner
Wow, you've used them on the front of the moulding, that's a surprise, wasn't expecting that. Looks like it might be a bit distracting to the work?
Has anyone switched over solely to a Hoffmann for their joining?

Re: Hoffman Dovetail Router vs Cassese Underpinner
Mark Yes, more than one clamp would be extravagant. Framer friend told me Titebond 3, superstrong n waterproof, so that's what in using. I'm going to have a demo on an MU2 tomorrow although I'm aiming for an xline 20. Prospero I'm getting a demo on pinning the mitres tomorrow too. Don't have a vice ...

Mark, Rose n hollis sw2724 Oak moulding, no more than 20mmx20mm, frame sizes 900mmx700mm/700mmx500mm(sorry, haven't mastered imperial yet). I'm doing them one by one now, glue and clamp overnight, underpin next morning still with framers clamp on. Seems to be working, it's just that when there's loa...

Re: Hoffman Dovetail Router vs Cassese Underpinner
Thanks Mark,
It doesn't look like the Genisis or Fletcher 4000 are readily available these days, so it's back to the Hoffman.
Having finished my day underpinning a 700x500 oak frame and have the wedges push the mitre open (again), the Hoffman is looking very attractive!

Hoffman Dovetail Router vs Cassese Underpinner
Hi All, Just looking for some advice. I've been framing for about 9 months now, working a lot with hand finished frames, Tulip, Ash and Oak. I am wondering whether I would be better off swapping my Cassese CS1 for a Hoffman dovetail router. As I was warned, the Ash and Oak are tricky to underpin, st...

Re: painting plain wood mouldings
I can recommend the Daler Rowney D88 One Stroke brushes. I'm new to hand finishing too, but this is working for me, although time is the issue until I get faster, oh and space. Having 15 frames to finish at once in various colours is a headache.. 2x coats of primer undercoat, light sand between coat...

Sorry Chris, sounded like you got a package of all three for £100...
Square does look like the best deal atm, more for the reader than sumup, but one of very few able to take over the phone/keyed in payments...

Re: Mountboard Quantities?
Thanks everyone, it's great to know there is help and advice out there!! I'll have a look at the Munken board. I've specced a nice thick Arqadia board for this job. Thicker mounts seem to be popular with artists in these parts... Steve N, we're talking the same language!!! :star: :star: :star...

Re: Mountboard Quantities?
It's not wanting to vastly over order, or have to wait a week for another delivery that's bothering me.
Am I crazy to think I can add all the measurements together and see how many sheets fit into it, and round it up to a pack??

Mountboard Quantities?
Hi All,
Just wondering if someone has a quick answer to help me out!
I have 14 different sized mounts to do for an artist.
Is there a quick way that i am missing, to calculate how much mountboard I need to order??
Thanks
Justin
