I'm glad you got it sorted out Beth. The catalogues like someone said, I think it was Mark, that the moulding suppliers, give us lots of free glossy brochures printed on top of the range paper and photographed by a top professional photographer, well they really don't look cheap to produce, and prob...

Like Mark said, CorelDraw Graphics Suite is a top of the range product that we have been using for years now, not so much on the framing side of our business, the only part of framing we use it for is doing layouts of mounts and transfering them to the CMC, Gunnar's software allows us to do this. Th...

Welcome to the forum, Kevin.Well I suppose theres no harm about learning all you can about the various aspects of framing and using morso's underpinners, saws , hot presses and all the other equipment that everyone uses here. But if you were to visit me being an Rep. of Gunnar, the questions I would...

Haha, I dont think theres a big demand for the twisted stuff. It would be easier and cheaper if they checked it themselfs before sending it out. Well If you ask if its not twisted there going to have to check it anyways.

Yea the subject switched after a few replies, because if you ordered moulding and its so bad that you have trouble making a frame from it, the only answer is to sent it back again. As for the chevrons, the only english company's catalogue I seen was the Lion one, so I can't comment on the other UK s...

I set you up for a nice plug John. Haha, But seriously that Visalisation Software is something I must look at after Christmas. One the otherhand the wholesalers are driving down the price of mouldings made in China etc. and quality control suffers or is not existant anymore, which allows inferior mo...

Look at it this way, if a photographer, interior designer, etc were to come to your and demand free samples of your framing to show clients, what might the outcome be? It happened 2 weeks ago, when a teacher from a school wanted to get photos with names, dates etc. framed and mounted. She picked th...

I dont see why framers should pay for samples or chevrons either. What we are doing is giving wall space to suppliers so that the public can see whats available and buy those mouldings. I'm sure that some of the mouldings suppliers are reading this and , you know the usual story, the cost to them an...

I don't know about it either, but the I read some of the stuff on the website, what puts me off it is the mix ratio, you have 50% water, thats going to take a long time to evaporate especially it the photos are big. Plus when their drying how do you keep dust and dirt from falling on them. If you us...

That could be a long, tortorous and frustrating route. Why join any organasiation or business that has suffered from mismanagement for years, and is now in the position where the vast majority of framers who either dont know of their existance or for various reasons dont want to join it? As for joi...

I'm not a member of the FATG, and looking at this post I have no intention of joining an organization that looks like its falling apart at the seams. Someone posted that in the South East of England, there is 81 frame shops and only 10 members of the FATG are in that area. Not a very good statistic ...

Problems with float mount.

I got a job in today to reframe an oil thats been painted on paper. The origional framer float mounted it onto standard mount board. The art itself is around 16 inches wide, the main problem is he used ATG tape instead of hinges and its going the full length of the art. The value of it is around €2,...

Hi Mike. The third scale is at right angles to the long fixed scale, just afer the right cutting blade. Its recessed into the morso bed. Its the first scale you use when making a frame. it measures the inside edge of the rebate. If that scale is missing the recess should be easy to see on the bed its...

The Fillet Master is well worth the money if you cut alot of fillets, you still need to cut the fillet with your morso, it takes the measurement of your and transfers it to your morso. Cassese have 3mm. wedges and maybe that will do for most fillets.
