Looks like a very robust Morso, all you need to do is sharpen the blades like any other Morso

Re: Hand painted, Lithuanian Chicken's Egg

I kind of like your glue on a golf tee idea but with a variant. Instead of using glue you could use a glue dot, the type of sticky gum they use to stick a credit card to the advice card when they send it out to you. Glue dots are easily commercially available and I've use them to stick painted craft...

Re: Whimsical frames

I think you will get some success offering those as a ready made option to some picture framers, although many framers tend to be more bespoke and a little more top end of the market (and that isn't to say that your product isn't appealing). My first thought, however, is are you also approaching oth...

Re: mitre saw

The Inmes saw is a cracking machine. It cuts straight through thick 3 inch wide wooden ramin and oak wooden mouldings; far easier than the Morso. The Inmes will do a 3 inch wide cut in one go, whereas with a Morso it takes 6 to 7 cuts. The downside is that with the Inmes you really need an extractor...

Re: Board for canvas

25mm thick MDF would work to stretch a canvas over and because its solid you can stretch tightly over it without the board bending or breaking. This also, where appropriate (and it might not be in this case), does allow for easy stapling into the edges of 25mm MDF.

To buy sundries in bulk you could try http://www.ukpictureframingsupplies.co.uk . You can also import them directly from alibaba.com which showcases many Chinese manufacturers (I know - but it is a global economy these days) who can send a pallet load of mixed sundries such as d-rings, string, screw...

Re: Tesco Scam?

I work on one simple rule when I see an email that I suspect may be a scam email

Is it offering something for free or that is just too good to be true?

If so delete without opening and move on.

You get nothing for free in this life!

Re: Burglar's dream

My next door neighbour had her pvc back door removed by burglars who used a spade to lever near the hinges - which I guess is akin to the single kick method mentioned above. Also some time ago we had someone who snapped the actual lock mechanism by bending the lower part of the door handle plate and...

Re: Frame width

There are no silly questions on this forum, just those we need a little help with. I can't believe how many useful tips I've picked up in the short time that I've been a member. In answer to the original question (leaving aside the subject of a sub-frame) I've done a frame to that spec at 15mm width...

I'm all for people offering support on here and NFU might be the best insurers for your needs but it might be an idea to speak to a local insurance broker.

Have you thought about contacting a local historical society? I emailed the local historical society and they were happy to ask around their members for me...

I've had a look through a couple of supplier catalogues but can't see anything that matches that. If I had, it might have tempted me to change suppliers. Re: Mahoosive sheets of paper

I also like Tim's idea as it is likely to cause you the least amount of grief. I think the chances of laminating pieces of paper that size without some form of problem is almost zero. Get the paintings onto a nice flat horizontal surface and photo from above, perhaps from a stepladder or stood on a ...

Re: Taking BACS payment from a customer anyone ?

In these days of internet banking I have quite a few customers who pay by direct bank transfer, particularly business customers. I tend to find that consumers prefer to pay by card but I do accept direct bank transfers from them if that's their preference. Like others, though, I would advise you to ...
