Re: Reframing a lino cut
I've probably not explained very well Mark, I'm not going to attempt to do anything to the print. The print is dry mounted to a backing with around 5cm border all round, and the backing board is in pretty bad condition. I was just thinking of trimming away the border to get rid of all the yellow tap...

Reframing a lino cut
A customer has brought a lino cut to me that she got at auction for reframing. It's in pretty bad condition and she's overpaid for it. It's got acid stains etc but it's also been glued to the backing which is covered in atg tape. I've told her that all I can do is put a new mount on and reframe it, ...

Re: Framing high value artwork
Mark your reply has sort of confirmed my feeling! Even if he is legit, he needs a framer who specialises in this with a strong room and appropriate insurance

Re: Framing high value artwork
I should probably explain the circumstances he got in touch ... He bought a couple of small oils from a Parisian gallery that had cement frames, these were broken in transit. So the gallery got in touch with me and asked if I could reframe in a simpler wood frame. When he dropped the paintings to be...

Framing high value artwork
I had an enquiry this week from someone looking to set up a gallery. They have a collection of prints of high value they want to start framing, highly valuable with a couple the claim to be worth £50,000. It would be an ongoing job. I said I would have to have a think and do some research. At the mo...

You can buy Daler chevron's from Lionpic if that's any use? There doesn't seem to be a min order anymore either

Re: Max cutting width on a morso.
Mark, the pictures I'm framing will be quite small, 10x30cm, so I don't think I'll have problems with strength. I've just tested my trial piece in the underpinner and it seems to be able to cope with the width

Re: Max cutting width on a morso.
Thanks for all the advice! Just had a go now and it turns out it's pretty easy. I just cut it close to where I needed and used the morso as a trimmer, not sure if I'm doing it the same as you've suggested but it worked well The frame it self needs to match as close as possible to an existing frame ,...

Re: Max cutting width on a morso.
Thanks! I'm not sure I quite understand so I might have to experiment a bit. I was planning to take the rebate supports out and as it will be a flat moulding figured I could cut upside down. At least I know it's possible now, I'll try to follow what your saying and have a go with some scraps tomorrow

Max cutting width on a morso.
I have a customer who wants frames that are 10cm wide, is there a way to do this on a morso or is it a table saw job? I found a video on YouTube of someone suggesting it's possible by making the first cut with the blades slightly back then pushing all the way in and cutting against this first cut. I...

Do you have a smartphone Mark? If you do you could do the online application on your phone and take a picture using your phone too. I did my application just using my phone.

I don't think it's something that will be in demand to be honest, I think once this this all over people will want to move on and get back to normal without any reminders

Would the one from diyframing work? It wouldn't surprise me if the axminster one is the same machine, it looks similar

Re: Keencut system 4000
There are two types of glass cutter, the earlier one is in a black holder it can be obtained through Lion individually or Keencut (code TCGCW £11.16 each sold in packs of 5), if it is the later one in a white holder it is no longer available from Keencut but it is available from GlassParts in South...

Re: FOR SALE: ademco press 2226 needs to go!
This is too far for me to collect sadly, but just out of interest, are you limited to the size of the press when dry mounting or can you put bigger posters in and do it in sections? I've seen a video that suggests you can do this but doesn't show how

Re: Flexible spacers for a circular frame
Thanks for the suggestions! If econospace is flexible enough then I'll probably go with that - really appreciate you testing it for me Steve. Would the self adhesive stick to mdf? I guess I'd apply dots of pva also to be sure

Flexible spacers for a circular frame
I've been asked to make a number of circular frames out of mdf for retail displays. The actual frames I'm going to make using a router jig. However, the customer wants the frames to have spacers. Does anyone know of a spacer that would be flexible enough? I was wondering whether econospace would wor...
