Re: North West framers, where do you get your supplies?

Yeah, all the deliveries are from Oldham now. To be fair they are going to do 3 deliveries a week now. I just feel a bit gutted for the guys at Robinsons, they seem pretty down about it.

North West framers, where do you get your supplies?

My local framing supplier Robinsons Pictures in Liverpool is being closed down and merging with Wessex in Oldham. Just thought I'd check with everyone where they get their supplies. Its seem a proper shame that they are going as its nice to have counter service and by all accounts they were turning ...

cold laminating press

At the moment I get all my dry mounting done for me but I was looking at the cold laminating presses on Lionpic and was wondering what people opinion on them were. Also theres some on ebay at a fraction of the price such as this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1300mm-Manual-Cold-Mount-Laminator-/23091...

Re: Help solving an underpinner problem please!

Thanks for that. I got the power twist minigraf wedges in the end, they work great. The step up from my old euro underpinner is quite noticeable , makes such a difference!

Re: Help solving an underpinner problem please!

Cheers for that. I might get some of the cassese ones to tide me over and order some of the power twist over the net.

Re: Help solving an underpinner problem please!

Thanks for confirming! I have a wessex supplier nearby to me but looking on their website they sell cassese branded wedges that supposedly fit minigraf machines. I don't suppose you know if these are any good? Otherwise I will order online and wait I guess

Re: Help solving an underpinner problem please!

Had another tinker and I'm wondering if its to do with the wedges Im using. The softwood wedges that were supplied with the underpinner work fine. I bought some alfa wedges along with the machine but I got the universal ones and then realised that alfa do ones that are specifically for their machine...

Help solving an underpinner problem please!

Hi all, I bought a new Alfa foot operated underpinner this week. I've only just set it up and am tinkering around with it. At the moment its firing two wedges at once when I underpin, they are going in side by side, does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I've double checked that I have the...

Underpinner wanted in North West

Hi everyone, I'm looking to upgrade from an old Euro underpinner and thought I'd check on here to see if anyone has one going. I'm looking for a foot operated model and I use a lot of oak/ash mouldings so something that is good for hardwoods. Alternatively can anyone recemmend a good new one? At the...

Re: Box frame for pens

Its a McAllister one from B&Q, this one http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/power-tools/ ... W-12389435. I did have a cheaper one but found that spending a bit more is definitely worth while.

Box frame for pens

I made this for my friend as a birthday gift for his wife who is apparently something of a pen thief. I made the moulding from ash using a table saw then put a groove down the middle using a router. Stained with a walnut wood dye then sanded back around the edges to give it a slightly worn look, the...

Re: Spaced "ripple" frame using the router.

This is really excellent! Could you describe in a bit more detail how you made it? Is it a modified frame moulding using the router or did you make the moulding from scratch? I use a router a bit myself so I wouldnt mind learning your technique on this one!

Re: Ornate frame moulding

Thanks everyone, I will investigate those links. Ian, she really does want that many scrolls. I had thought about just buying those mirrors but I'm not sure if it would be possibly to resize them and make the corners match? I guess I could just mount the pictures to fit the frames but I'm not sure h...

Ornate frame moulding

Hey all, Ive just posted in the introductions bit and I have a question as a relative newbie to framing. I have a customer who has two pictures she wants framed in a highly ornate frame. I've shown her all the mouldings from the Wessex catalogue and some from Arqadia but there's nothing along the li...

Hello from Liverpool

Hello all I started my business about a year ago, still early days but I'm hoping to make a living in this picture framing lark. I've been reading this board for a while and find it really helpful so thought I'd say hello! I have some quesions too so I'm heading off to post for some advice in a seco...
