Re: Image ghosting on glass

That is exactly one of the reasons why we use a mount, keep the image off the glass or that happens.

You can see where the mount was because of fading or acid burn. Both can be reduced by using conservation mounts/UV glass.

Re: Spraying frames - interim solution

Yep I will second professional spray cans (not b&q stuff which is expensive and can be rubbish). I can custom colour match and I spray many frames, spacers, mounts or fillets with very good results. Does take a bit of skill and a fair bit of 'light' sanding in between many coats with wet and dry...

Re: framing a LEP without a mount

Hi,

Double window mount or slip is the only way to frame the expensive limited edition print.

Have to tell your client why and convince them to have it mounted properly.
Any sort of floatmounting and it is very likely going to ripple and go wavy and client is not going to be happy.

Yeah sadly that centrado mouldings is not going to match the others but thank you for the suggestion :)

Manufacturer in Spain is moving and production is down, will be more in the future but no date. At least this is what i'm told.

Re: Looking for out of stock moulding L1272

Thank you for your offer Steve, customer already has rooms full of this moulding so it has to match all the others.

Spoke to the customer, he wasn't to keen on the wait with no date and asked if it would be before next week.

Re: Looking for out of stock moulding L1272

Definitely checked in Arqadia, got some close but not the same.

I would happily discontinue it, (nightmare moulding to join) but the customer would not be happy.

Re: Make Your Own Moulding

Looks great :)

When I first started framing I made all my own mouldings with lots of different shaped router cutters.
Lots of fun but after the first year I had became a nightmare (short of space) and I work from home.

Still do the odd job from scratch :)

10mm Foamboard problems

Hi, I have a large print to frame and I was thinking the best thing to use was 10mm foamboard to mount to. I ordered a sheet from my supplier 2440x1220mm and it arrived very bowed. I've cut it down to size kept it flat and but it still like this. (photo below) Question, should I expect sheet size 24...

Gold Moulding identification

Hi all,

I'm trying to replicate this frame, does anyone know anything about the moulding please?

Arqadia has some similar mouldings but not exactly the same.

many thanks,

Re: Wax for a black painted finish

To solve this problem on Black I use Colron Refined Beeswax 'Clear' (from B&Q) for the first coat of wax and for the second coat of wax I use Liberon Black Bison (neutral).

This is on top of Liberon Black water based stain and not paint but should still work the same.

Hope that helps :D
