Re: Papyrus print

Hi Phil What you can do is seal the sandwich (glass-mount-backing board) by taping it up with something like P90 Tape. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j173/absoluteframing/DSCF0309.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j173/absoluteframing/DSCF0310.jpg Also you can laminate the back of backing boa...

Re: Guild Guild Framers Committee reply to points raised on

When I met Rosie the former MD of the Guild at a FATG Irish Branch meeting in Galway a few years ago, I asked about special Credit Card Terminal Rates and Golden Pages advertising discounts for Irish members. I was told that if I wished to organise it myself for the members in Ireland, I would be al...

Re: Insurance in republic of Ireland

Hi, That price seems about right. My recommendation would be to go to your local Insurance Broker and get them to do the legwork for you. This type of policy, especially if combined with a home policy on the same site can be a little tricky. There is also a policy Aviva do - "Trademark Policy&q...

Re: Sticking down a large laminated map ?

Yep Adam, They get a frame. They were all one sided maps though.

To be honest I hate doing these jobs as they are a PITA, however if they pay I make.

Would be interested to here how you get on with Steve from Hotpress.

Re: Green Framing

Hi GS, You raise an interesting topic. I feel a true "Green" framing model would be to recycle old frames, however I dont think it would be a good business model. The production of most Mounts and Backing boards is a highly industrial process. Even "cotton" mounts involve cleanin...

Re: Sticking down a large laminated map ?

Hi Bagpus, I've done this before. Its a 2 person job (at least it should be) First sand the back of the laminate with sandpaper to roughen the surface. I used 9mm MDF - Sand or lightly score MDF - Prime it first with 20% Water and 80% PVA - Left to dry - Then apply PVA with a roller - Place Map on w...

I still remember the day I had to go into the hardware and ask for a "rubber mallet" :head:

I use a large 24" metal 90 Degree Ruler, and also double check by measuring the 2 diagonals as mentioned by Mitertight

Re: Custom made stretcher Bars

Hi,

I've used Renaissance mouldings before and found the bars to be of good quality and accurate.
Was a large size and they came with suitable braces and wedges.
