Re: Pricing multi-window mounts on a CMC with software.

Charge for a normal mount of the overall size including one window then use a ‘per opening’ price x 26 added to the basic price. That way your costs and profit is taken care of with the basic price and the added value can be easily calculated and you have consistency. An example might be: Basic moun...

Pack them into small packs of the same size. You may need to do more cutting. Sell on eBay or Etsy to crafters and model makers.

Re: 3D printed frame decoration.

I’ve applied a rough finish. I’m no expert at this but I think it’s worthy of more experimentation.

Re: 3D printed frame decoration.

Hi, yes they are, I’ve just painted the one above. Using a emulsion with added whiting to act as a filler. I can’t attest for other material but the Cosplay and props community’s are heavily into painted 3D stuff.

Re: 3D printed frame decoration.

The scanning is the tricky bit in as much as a decent 3D scanner is pretty pricy but they are becoming available. Give it a couple of years and I may get one…in the meantime. Middling form phots works ok if rather time consuming.

Re: 3D printed frame decoration.

I can make reverse moulds and carve them in boxwood but there are limitations. Mainly you can’t cut overhangs, whereas you can with 3D printing. Have you seen the price of boxwood!!!

Re: 3D printed frame decoration.

The material is Wood combined with PLA. Fairly common 3D printing filament. The ornaments are 3D models available commercially although to make your own takes some effort. That’s something I’m Working on. Each ornament takes about and hour and a half to print. On my printers I can do about 10 at a t...

3D printed frame decoration.

I’m experimenting with applying 3D printed frame decoration. This is the first attempt. The model was printed and heated in a microwave to soften before forming it to shape. Glue and pinned in place and the a little filler. Any thoughts? 357F4F46-3A9B-4D99-9845-B83286E13414.jpeg CDAF2FCB-C30E-4F49-B...

Re: How long have you been a framer?

I made my fist sale, 3 framed photographs, in October 2010, went full time a few years later after finishing a work contact. I’ve been framing ever since but am slowly changing tack into artists panels and wall easels. Only 30% of my jobs are now frames.

Adhesive Roll

I’m looking for some double sided adhesive roll for sticking down paper onto mount board. It needs to be pressure sensitive, NOT heat activated.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Sloping Bech

When I started framing I used a sloping bench, this has long gone as I need large flat areas now.

Does anyone still use a sloping bench?

I’ll get some sorted in the
