Re: Canvas tray
Yes, it's in regular use here. Fillet size can be adjusted to any size required depending on whether the artist wants the frame close against the canvas or with a small gap. As long as the fillet is wide enough to screw into the frame and to go at least half way across the back of the stretcher bar ...

Re: Baby hand and foot prints - nightmare to mount !
Why not just use the hanger that has already been attached to it? They are designed to hold plates and other ceramic items so should be plenty strong enough to hold up these pieces. You could cut a slit in the mountboard, feed the hanging ring through it and secure that at the back. This type of han...

Re: Close gallery and use as a framing showroom?
Well now's the time to set yourself a deadline! We had an extension and loft conversion done at home which was started over two years ago and we had a few things left to do ourselves. So two years after paying for new carpets, nearly half the rooms haven't had it put down yet because we still have b...

You are right Kwik, it can be cheaper, but the OP already knew that as he stated, so that wasn't the main point of his question. What are your views on the actual question asked?

BlueSkyArt sounds like you are travelling down the right path for your business and the most important thing is that you have given it thought and then actually got on and done something about it. Too many people take so long thinking about the changes they are going to make that before you know it ...

Re: Backing Board - Kraftboard v MDF
We swapped over to kraftboard for the majority of jobs about 4 years ago. The main benefit is the reduction in dust produced when cutting it and to be honest it was worth it for that reason alone. Personally I prefer the look and feel of the kraftboard, but it's horses for courses. We do still use M...

Have you tried your local glazing company? Not a framing glass specialist, just a regular glazier should be able to sort this for you no problem. We use a local glazing company for a lot of awkward jobs or where we can't wait for Wessex to deliver (it's a two week wait for some specialist cut items ...

Re: Removable medals holder thingywotsit
Sorry it wasn't a more useful lead for you :( it was a few years ago now that we bought the fixings from them and they must have changed their policy since then which at least is useful to know, even if it wasn't helpful for you. It is just a wooden block basically though, (ours were wooden anyway, ...

Re: Removable medals holder thingywotsit
Those fixings were sold by these guys http://www.bigburymint.com/ and we had loads of them at one point when we were reframing all the medal set for our local British Legion branch. They were happy to sell the fixings to us so hopefully you will still be able to source them from them. I've checked a...

Hi Tina and welcome to the Forum We swapped over to using the Framiac pricing software earlier this year and have been very happy with it and would highly recommend it. It takes into account all the points raised by others ^^^^ about including ALL your overhead costs when working out your prices as ...

Re: Getting rid of marks on mountboard
One useful tool I find handy sometimes is what I call a 'bristle stick'. It's like a pen, but with fibreglass bristles that you can wind out as they wear down. Try a photographers. I think the intended purpose is for cleaning tiny electrical contacts on cameras. With care, you can sometimes tease o...

wow, I'm so glad I watched the one on replacing a piece of glass in a frame. Who knew you were supposed to do it like that! I particularly liked how she showed just how to cover the glass in fingerprints as you put it back together. Now I know where I've been going wrong all these years

Re: How far do your customers "travel"
I would say the majority of our customers are from within a radius of up to 30 miles from our location, but we are increasingly seeing customers travelling much further than that and as repeat customers which is always good. Up to 50-70 miles or so isn't uncommon. We have a few trade customers from ...

As Prospero said it's down to size differences. D3303 is standard sheet size, D4703 jumbo sheet size so twice the size. Which would explain the price difference. They are both 2200 microns thick though.
