How do I determine what size staples my staple gun takes?
How do I determine what size staples my staple gun takes? I've found an old staple gun of mine and I can't be sure what the size is? I can just make out Arrow T55 or it could be T35 stamped on the side. It doesn't help that I scored my name through the lettering when I was at art school :D What woul...

Stringing Large Heavy Oil Painting?
I have to string a largish oil painting with a heavy frame (160cm x 140cm). What would be the recommended position for the D-rings? Any other advice would be gratefully received.

2nd Quality Moulding : How Much Should I Expect?
I've finished working through a recent order of oak moulding. There was a bit of 2nd quality moulding. How much 2nds is acceptable from the wholesaler? As it's wholesale am I expected to fill the occasional knot and crack? What about warped moulding?

Re: Is there a ready mixed wood filler that is as good as the two part type?
I've said at least twice: I want to fill the mitres with a non cracking filler. I already use the two part filler: dries too quickly for use on several frames at once. An alternative ready mixed filler would be better.

It's not just the occasional bodge to sort out, it's that I want and invisible joint. And hairline cracks at the joint is an irritation.

Re: Is there a ready mixed wood filler that is as good as the two part type?
That's great advice, I hadn't thought about making my own filler. Do you happen to know of any recipes?
Good too because if I use saw dust from the mouldings I'm using it'll match the colour well (I think?)...

Is there a ready mixed wood filler that is as good as the two part type?
I'm using a two part wood filler for finishing my mitres. The problem is it goes off too quickly, infuriating and time consuming when there's several frames to be finished. Every other type of filler I've used develops hairline cracks at the join. Is there a ready mixed filler that is as good as the...
