Re: Sanitising mouldings etc

Hi Rainbow, Don't they say the virus can't survive more than 3 days on hard surfaces (forgive me if that is wrong or outdated info.)? Maybe don't touch anything for 3 days after it has been delivered, if possible? I get groceries online, and just put non perishables (tins, bags etc) aside for at lea...

Re: Latest frame and some progression

I was just thinking that this thread is getting a bit silly now but cleaver has pulled it back with a flourish! How very dare you! I've never been accused of raising the tone in my life  Hope you are well Dermot, mate. You often pop into my mind when I watch 'Salvage Hunters, The Restorers' (f...

Hmmm, not sure I'd trust the answers, coming from someone who has 'believed in time travel since 2035'.

Seriously, well done Sheriff Steve (I trust you'll slip me the answers on PM).

Maybe it's a touch of veneer disease (a quick course of penicillin should do the trick - ahem, so I'm told).

Re: Latest frame and some progression

LOL, Rainbow. It's more the biographies of great artists; we've got the lot: from Bacon to Freud. Even as a non-arty type, I find their stories and all-consuming passion fascinating. I think my favourite is by the late, great Robert Hughes. It's called The Mona Lisa Curse, and it delves into how big...

Re: Latest frame and some progression

Very impressive framing! I'm not very good at detecting the hidden meanings in art. I've bought books on understanding art but I still don't get it. So I can see that there's a face in the top left hand corner ... but what does it mean :D (Please don't say "whatever it means to you" - it ...

Really beautiful all round, Matt.

Ducks don't take to water any better than you have taken to framing.

I hope you and yours are well and coping during these times, mate.

Re: Sports memorabilia

Yes. Speaking with my customer's / fan head on, I'n never buy anything signed that I hadn't personally seen signed by the person in question.

Saying that, I realise it's a significant industry, with certificates and all that. Just my distrusting nature, I guess!

Re: Ricky - Barnard Castle Frames

I have no idea whether anyone connected to Ricky's family will have sight of this, but I'd like to say it anyway. I hope Ricky had the dignified send-off he deserved, and that his loved ones and friends are bearing up. People from many walks of life - from the world of music to framing - took Ricky ...

Re: What's everyone doing now we've got so much time to spare?

That's a coincidence. My pal is an upholsterer, and his firm are knocking up face masks for the NHS, too. From what I can gather, they are strips of blue foam, with a plastic shield cover. Anyway, as Rainbow says, good on you Sheriff Steve  . You could say it's real 'conservation work'....cons...

Re: Hanging on difficult walls

Sounds a nightmare: even if you get the fixings to stick to the mirror, who's to say the mirror itself was stuck to the wall properly! Don't envy you this, and personally I'd give it a complete swerve. (If you're not careful, you could end up on one of those accident-claim TV ads with a creepy talki...

Just read Ricky's message above (in purple). Really shocking how people are being told to just 'get on with it'. I'm not knocking anyone around the world for how the pandemic is being handled. We're in brand new and terrifying territory - I'm sure the powers-that-be everywhere are doing their best. ...

Terrible news (but thanks for letting us know, Mark).

Always a good laugh on here and very generous with his knowledge.
