Re: Fletcher 2100

Hi Mark, Did you get a manual with it, and did you get the two squaring gauges as well, the squaring gauges are used to check the squareness of the mat guide. You could also have a look at this old tread http://theframersforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=1177 I have been told you can download a manual from ...

Re: Wanted - Jumbo CMC + boxmaker

I cut my packing on the wall cutter like JameC and then use a pizza cutter with a straightedge to do the creasing, takes about 5 minutes to pack up a consignment of mounts ready for dispatch. Does a great job  I re-use most of packing from deliveries and there is less waste, I use one strip of...

Re: How did you start?

I trained as a engineer when I left school, but art was my first love, when my apprenticeship finished I work as a photographer on a holiday camp. Then I went on to do many different jobs, ending working at the hospital, but the art was still there. I was doing portraits as a past time while at the ...

Re: A bad canvas day ...

I have used Lion's Filmoplast Tape part number 2735 page 74, use it on the edge of the canvas to cover any staples. If you start/finish at the top or bottom edge of the canvas it not be very noticeable. I have also found that if you use a bit of release paper ( to protect the tape) and a warm iron t...

Re: Upmarket Framers??

Where I used to work we had the new MD of a big publishing company come in with some framed prints and originals, they all needed reglazing after the move from London. He told me that they were of value and to take the utmost care of them, when I took them apart, some of the artwork had been stuck t...

Re: Take a camera to work

This one is a screen print on aluminum, of Captain America by Miss Bugs. I sinkmounted the alumininum and then used a double mount Blue over Red with a white on the outside of the red, so that when I cut the stars in the top mount, they showed white. Frame in a Wessex Frames white box frame with con...

Re: It looks like the Christmas rush has started.

I'm just a framing shop, I do not sell anything else except Ready Made frames and cards, and my turn over a year at the moment is quite low, not because we do not accept plastic, as long as you tell your customers that, they will come in with their cheque book or cash when they collect their work. I...

Re: Additional Forum Listing.

I've gone back and re-read John's (Merlin) first post on the thread, and I can not find anything wrong with it. I think he explained very well, why and how he set up the Valani pages, why he was so disappointed :head: why so few users have posted their own designs. When I have done some designs whic...

Re: My first 'big' order but how much do I order ?

I had an order for 20 frames 2 weeks ago 16x20 approx, I ordered 150ft to be on the safe side, got a phone call to say only had 132ft, :head: well it could be done with that. When the order arrived all the lengths were 6ft long, couldn't get one frame out of a length, played around with cutting so m...

Adding new job to docket

I have a problem with EstLite, if I take in more than one framing job for a customer, lets say I price up for one job( lets call it A ) and then fill in the details for the job, then press the Add new job to docket, price up for that one ( call this one B ). Then fill in the details for that one, an...

Re: Am I one of those?

Even though I have only been running my own business since November last year, I have dealt with Simons for the last 18 years, while working for other framers. I have found that they have improved over the last 7 or 8 years, and they are my number one supplier, they do sort out any problems quick ( ...
