Re: are reps too busy

I remember when I was just staring out 20 years ago been asked by one moulding supplier if i'd bought my equipment from them on the premise that if i hadn't they wouldn't supply me with moulding. Needless to say they didn't get my business and they are no longer trading! At the time I must admit I w...

Re: looks like a scam

TTC, The Dulwich Picture Gallery email, although it could be genuine, would make me question it. The reason being that if it's a Uk based company, why are they using the spelling of 'check' instead of cheque and 'cell phone' instead of mobile phone. I know some people use spell checkers on their ema...

Re: The Time Has Come!

Just to clarify that the idea of having a comparison chart was so that the individual could do a quick scan before deciding which machine(s) best fit their particular needs within their business. Some may not have all the capabilities needed or add ons ie. cutting sizes, box making capabilities, ink...

Re: The Time Has Come!

I too have been considering purchasing a cmc for a while now trying to weigh up the pros and cons of each one. I don't know about anybody else but I think I would find it a lot easier to make a more informed decision if there was a table of comparison between each of the cutters, which compared vari...

Re: Print lifting off self adhisive board

I too have had similar experiences with self adhesive board even when it's been put through a cold roller press. The problem only came to light when i had a few returned from customers. I thought it must have been just a bad batch but even so told my supplier, who was none too concerned about the pr...

Re: Account keeping question for the Guru's of framing

Hi I use a program called Solar accounts, which is a very simple accounting program, which is accepted by the inland revenue. You can download a trial version at http://www.solaraccounts.co.uk. I have found it far simpler to use than Quicken (quick books) or Sage and you get online help if you get s...

Re: Polcore

A few years ago i wouldn't have given polycor mouldings the time of day, but have to say that i've been converted particulary by the excellent range offered by Mainline mouldings and the consistency of the quality & value for money. Some of the finishes are so good these days it's very difficult...

Re: Free hand mountcutting and V-grooving tools.

Hi Mark the logan is a free style cutter and with any hand cutting takes a bit of practise but i'm sure you have plenty of off cuts to play with. I once cut the Lion logo out with it, and as far as i know they had it in the warehouse at Lion Birmingham. Obviously the bigger the image is to work with...

Re: Free hand mountcutting and V-grooving tools.

Hi Mark I have both a Dahl cube cutter and a Logan 1000, which i am assuming is the predessor of the 1100 free style cutter but would say that i prefer this over the Dahl cube cutter due to the fact that it has a little more 'meat' to it and find it easier to handle. So my choice would always be the...

Re: Daler Rowney mount board

With regards to the batch number on the reverse side of the mount board. I have known the suppliers to actually print the wrong number on the back. I've had this happen on more than one occasion.

Have you checked the colour against a Daler colour selector to see if this is the case?

Re: backing tape

Hey, Welshframer

if it's just a one off for the white tape on the backs of your frames, have you thought about using the colour mount white bevel tape that they use on the mounts. Think it's about £6.25 for 25m roll, but might just do the trick.

Hi I've got a full box and possibly just over half a box of original Euro wedges. Think off the top of my head they're 7mm. If you'd like them i'm more than happy to send them on to you for the price of the postage. They've just been sitting on a shelf since i had to reluctantly scrap my old 8008 u'...

Re: Just unlucky or what?

Seems to me Davie the solution to both your problems is right in front of you. Why not get your man to start making up the off cuts into ready mades cos it'd be a no brainer for him really, then he's gainfully employed doing something useful and you're still making a potential profit from your off c...

Re: cardboard frame boxes -but with handles?

Hi Kev

what sort of size frames are you wanting to put in the boxes and how heavy are they likely to be? Most of the plastic handle samples i've had sent to me look as though they'd only be suitable to take smaller sized frames ie. no bigger & heavier than a 20" x 16".

Re: cardboard frame boxes -but with handles?

Yes John, I am of the female gender although i can talk in a deep voice when required ! Kev, I've been looking into the plastic handles myself. I know of one firm that do them but they're rather 'pricey' and some of the handles aren't very good at doing what they're supposed to. I'll do a little bit...
