Re: Any Virgin Broadband users out there?

Thanks Jules. Very first thing I asked is why they need fibre...they don't do gaming etc. Just surfing the net, emails etc. They reckon Virgin took out their phone line, so would have to get one re-installed to switch from fibre broadband. Totally agree about Virgin. We (stupidly) signed up years ag...

Re: Any Virgin Broadband users out there?

Many thanks, John. Just wanted to get all my ducks in a row (with what other providers offer) before we call them. Yes, ideally, be great to keep the neighbours with Virgin on a negotiated deal (for simplicity's sake). But I don't like the idea of them being ripped off. Also, I'm curious/troubled ab...

Any Virgin Broadband users out there?

Hi All. My elderly neighbours have asked me about finding them cheaper broadband/phone. They reckon they're currently paying £80 p/m with Virgin  That figure includes international/national calls etc, but is still mad, if true (as there's no telly in their package). So I have been tasked with...

I agree Mark, that info is pretty well known. But (in best Bob Geldof voice) if this thread saves just one life......

Hope all's well down there, fella.

Linseed oil combustion...

I sort of knew about this phenomenon (or 'phenom', if you're under 30), through warnings on packaging....and I expect most on here also do. But I thought it worth posting this link, though.....just in case one person is unaware. https://www.popularwoodworking.com/flexner-on-finishing-woodworking-blo...

Sorry everyone....just found a great thread about it on our forum. https://theframersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=16943&p=129860&hilit=hoffman+router#p129860 I really must stop being trigger-happy starting threads on subjects that have been covered! I promise to use Google and the sear...

Re: Hoffman / Dovetail keys

Aaaah, just found a thread on the Grumble about this!

http://www.thegrumble.com/index.php?thr ... ter.54366/

But views from this side of the pond would be great to see (e.g. do UK framers use this system as much?)

Re: Hoffman / Dovetail keys

Thanks, Justin. Jeez, that looks like an expensive set-up.

Is yours the same...may I ask what sort of money a decent router set-up would cost / good models?

Hoffman / Dovetail keys

Hi All,

Are these keys used much in the framing world?

Saw them on Lion's site and wondered if they are often used (if so, why), as opposed to stacking wedges.

Re: Massive Mouldings

Yes, but if one butchers a mitre, I can't imagine how expensive the mistake is. Even cutting the longs first, you still have to have more moulding for the replacement long......at £!!! per foot (and/or have to make it up again - like the one in this thread). Anyway, you're kidding no one: you're pro...

Re: D.I.T.H.

I wonder what crushing the wire with a screw twisting round and round does to its strength? Aside from that, if I were a customer I might thing it was pretty sloppy (the sort of thing I could do badly myself). As someone said on another thread, customers very quickly turn over the job to see what it...

Re: Potential Newbie seeks advice

Many, many thanks for saying that, Steve...it means a lot. I'm very aware that I don't have much to add to the forum, and mostly just leech off the knowledge of folk like yourself. But I just wanted to give the OP my impressions from a newbie's point of view. When I posted it, I thought maybe I was ...
