Re: Firefox cache

Thanks for the tip, I only have the basic hosting package from 1&1 so (I think) user php scripts will not be recognised. Not too familiar with the workings of my server so perhaps I am talking rubbish... Re Chrome, not tried it yet but apart from being compact and uncluttered I am not sure if it...

Re: Artwork hinged to front mountboard

In an effort to come in from the cold, today I have been mostly experimenting with mounting pictures on barrier card with a hinged top mount....feeling warmer already :)

Firefox cache

This info may be of use to anyone who is involved with running a website. When you revisit a web page (in Firefox) it will show the page currently stored on disk (cache)or in memory. Firefox will (by default) only refresh the page if it is out of date. This speeds up the browser but if the page has ...

Re: Artwork hinged to front mountboard

I do not feel that dismissing Art-Bak Conservation without checking the technical specifications is fair on the manufacturer. So I have just sent an email to Glass & Mirror inviting them to comment on the suitability of Art-Bak Conservation board as a conservation item. Hopefully we will get a r...

Re: Artwork hinged to front mountboard

One question, do you flip the mount and photo once positioned and then hinge or do you hinge 'blind' whilst the mount and photo are face up? The artwork (face up) has the hinge tape applied to a small part under the top edge. The mount is laid over the artwork and positioned, avoiding touching the ...

Artwork hinged to front mountboard

Guzzijim's original post "How hard do you have to work" is in danger of being hijacked so lets continue here... Obviously I am now the spawn of satan in some peoples eyes following my confession that I always hinge artwork to the front mount. Three reasons have been cited for hinging to th...

Re: How hard do you have to work?

Understand you reason for mounting now, never exhibited any of my pics and everything I sell is either framed or in a clear wallet with mountboard for protection. Re location, scroll down the left hand side of this page and click on "Members Map". Please add your own location if you feel i...

Re: How hard do you have to work?

Mount print on backing board. I have been framing photographs, prints, watercolours etc for a while but rarely have to cold mount anything. Can't hot mount as I have no gear. All the pics are hinged to the front mount and backed with Art Bak conservation board. This is really quick, easy and all ma...

Re: How to clamp compound miter joints?

Any chance of a picture ? My take is that you have a frame that looks a bit like a shadow box with sloping sides. Putting the strap on the widest part of the profile will cause another part to try to open and the strap will not stay on any other part of the frame. I think I would look at manufacturi...

Re: When are you closing for Christmas?

Well it was supposed to be on monday so I could travel down to Walsall and spend xmas with the family. Unfortunately everyone is either coughing, sneezing, vomiting or worse so xmas has been postponed. Not to worry, I will not be stuck for a meal and a dram round here !. Ironically someone approache...

Re: lack of christmas cards

I am printing and selling a fair number of cards through the gallery but gave up sending them a few years ago (don't tell my customers !). Not being mean but they are a ridiculous waste of money that I would rather give to charity.

Re: WI FI?

This month in PC Pro is a reveiw of several house wiring data units. Probably your best bet. However if you have extra phone sockets then adding additional ethernet cables from your hub via the same route may be possible. I am also a fan of fixed cabling for maximum speed and reliability.

Re: Labels

Probably worth mentioning that the Brother system is greyscale. Not sure if there is such a system as thermal colour printing. Of real use is the ability to link to a database, something simple created in excel will do. Having the ability to select a line of information from the database and automat...

Re: Labels

I use a Brother QL1050. Labels from http://www.labelking.co.uk/Brother-DK-Series-Tapes.html

Back of frames is fine and adhesive is good. I have quite a lot of small notebooks on display in the window (south facing) so that is where I noticed the problem.

Re: Labels

I use a Brother label printer. Very good machine with easy load rolls of labels, allows printing of one label if required. PC software included which (suprisingly) works very well. The only problem is that the labels will fade in bright sunlight. This probably applies to any thermal label printer.

Re: Clay Hand & Foot Prints

If this is a joint venture perhaps you can look at the depth of the tile to see if it can be produced to fit into a "standard" deep rebate moulding. Not sure how thick the tile needs to be to show a good impression but worth looking at if it makes life easier.
