Re: Compressors for multiple machines

Way quieter than my old ‘mouthy’ piston compressor! It’s in a side room to the workshop, if the door is open when it goes off the door gets closed more often than not so I guess that suggests it’s still pretty noisy! A great suggestion by Jerome, might look into that.

Re: Compressors for multiple machines

I second the shout for a hydrovane. We run an HV02 with a 75litre receiver capacity which is plenty enough for our requirements. We run a Valiani, underpinner, various air tools and more recently a paint spray booth addition. I’d say before the spray booth addition it probably was a little over spec...

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!

Love the way this vintage French cycling poster turned out. Dead simple black blackcore mount and LJ confetti cream frame was the perfect colour match. Very pleasing to the eye.

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!

Thanks! Correct R&H C9 on top of A195. Perfect fit. Needs some precise calculations and mount border adjustments to set out the bobbles completely if working inside out. Starting with an exterior measurement first is definitely easier!

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!

This one was for a good friend who gives us pretty much carte blanche to do what we like. These are postcards from an alphabetic range for a Christening gift which were going to be simply floated on 5mm foamcore. I measured up and somehow cut the frame not wide enough. Not sure how… (measure twice c...

Thanks! Three-tone!! Such a versatile frame, lovely elegant shape, flat sections for easy masking and loads of rebate space. Wish it was available in more sizes!

Re: Price Check Please!

I’ll show you mine if you show me yours….🤭 I’d want to avoid using 3mm if poss and consider acrylic. Also not sure your logistics work with contents in that rebate but a similar workable scenario here I think i’d want in the region of £700-£800 and not be too disappointed if I didn’t get it! Where y...

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!

Nice job! Not sure what colour cards are doing the rounds in West Wales but Hague Blue is definitely still on the latest release! A best seller for us in a dark colour. My painted contribution for this week on a firm favourite R&H spoon moulding A219. We have also masked off the flat sections an...

Re: dry mounting on a large scale... perthshire?

A jumbo Hotpress vacuum press (HGP360) will handle that no problem. Working area up to 170cm ish so definitely possible. No idea if there is one near you tho!

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!

Bit of a challenge this week. Beautiful triptych on ply by a lovely French artist. She loves deep skinny frames which on something 1400mm tall can pose a headache or two. We’ve used R&H A354 in oak (9mm face x 33mm deep) and given support with LJ subframe 596500000. Joining this oak moulding can...

Re: What do you listen to when working?

Same. Nothing now… The PRS harassed me a few years back with phone calls and visits. Caught me once listening to talk radio in the workshop and said I’d need a license due to the jingles that Radio 5 play and that there was no permanent door in-between there and the shop!! I refused to pay for one a...

Re: Identify tray frame moulding please.

LJ 638400000 has internal dims very close to 45x33mm. The facing edge is 15mm though. I guess you could rip it down if you have access to a table saw?

Re: When canvas offsets don't reach??

Couldn't you glue/pin a discreet little spacer/batten to the base of your tray frame to make up the difference and screw through both from the back? Plumbers tape also makes a handy alternative when the canvas offsets aren't the right size. https://www.screwfix.com/p/ced-all-round-band-12mm-x-10m/18...

Re: Build Up Frame to Hold Canvas?!

Re-stretch the canvas on standard stretcher bars would only give you 5mm sticking out. Is that still too much? Or rip some stretcher bar moulding to the right thickness?
