I'd much appreciate advice on stretcher frame requirements, whether support bars are necessary, should I order pre-cut of self assemble, best supplier, etc. Also how to safegaurd the artw...

Re: Estlite Trial Version - Mouldings
Thanks Steve, I think I expected too much from the demo. Having looked again there is a demo mouldinng called Z but looks like options to upload mouldings, etc aren't available until you buy. Is there a general concensus on the forum as to what pricing tool to go with for a newbie ? I've looked at F...

Estlite Trial Version - Mouldings
Hi all, In my search for a pricing tool I downloaded a copy of the Estlite trial, however there were no mouldings available in the dropdown list. Is this because it's the trial version or do I need to reinstall the software or manually load the data ? I also have problems with the Pre-View tool whic...

FramR - Day One Pricing
Hi all, After some deliberation I've opted for a FramR pricing tool subscription. Please can anyone advise, is the pricing it produces out of the box acceptable for use day one (which I can refine as I progress) or do I need adjust parameters straight away in to get meaningful & reasonable (to m...

Morso blade width
Hi, I have been offered 2 pairs of Morso blades but both sets the blades are 63mm wide (I think they're more like 78mm new). Please can anyone advise at what point does the width start to affect their function ?

Re: Laminated or toughened?
It's not scratch proof though so worth felting (or similar) the bases of chess pieces if not already covered.

Re: Laminated or toughened?
I would opt for toughened. It will resist scratches well and if it breaks (and it takes a lot to break it) it will shatter safely into small squares. If laminate breaks it will break into shards (although the laminate film will retain the shards to a degree). It also breaks more easily than toughene...

Re: Moulding Chevrons wanted
Thanks all,
Chevrons turned up from Lion yesterday so can now make some progress. The 50 I now have look quite minimal, although I do have more on the way plus am now making some of my own from moulding stock.
Can I ask typically how many chevrons you all have on display ?
Regards,
Neil

Re: Moulding Chevrons wanted
Thanks. I've hated finger jointing ever since I bought a cheap finger jointed kitchen worktop which fell apart within a couple of years.

Re: Moulding Chevrons wanted
Thanks Mark, really helpful. Is there a certain type of moulding that tends to be difficult to cut/join ?

Re: New framers and secondhand equipment.
I agree that with the machinery it is important to buy well and then get it set up right. I hope I've achieved this with my recent purchases (Morso from Ebay, Ultimat from Facebook & Underpinner, Excalibur & Mouldings from this forum). I bought each of them after much research on this forum ...

Lion were my 3rd attempt at ordering some and to be fair to them I have't had a response to my order yet.
