Re: mount cutter blade change

Yes a manual cutter wears quicker due to the blade going in and out rubbing up against metal for one thing. That would be true only on some of the older Keencut mount cutters, but probably not true the Keencut Futura which uses a cartridge / magazines as does the Fletcher machines. It would not be ...

Indeed! CMC's are a totally different animal. It's not uncommon to go days and weeks on one blade. The OP is using a manual table top cutter.

Thanks for informing us all I will give Wessex a ring and get my free copy in a few weeks. :D :D I must say though it is funny how the FATG has only just started using the forum again (and only so for promotion of itself) since forum members have joined the PPFA. Is it a coincidence? Grays, As you ...

Re: mount cutter blade change

The "life" of a blade is typically dependent upon... The condition of the machine and not the brand of the machine. How deep the material being cut. The quality of the mountboard (matboard) being cut....and of course vendors sources and qualities have been known to vary from time to time. ...

It is a public forum Grays, and it's not exclusive to Guild members. The post was merely to inform Guild members who use the forum that their magazine is due to arrive.... Grays actually knew than Ian, As we might say here in the U.S., "He was yanking your chain." Looking forward to...

Re: Yellow oak

Really not being a SmartA** but I believe that it would involve using YellowOak. Oak was huge here in the 1980's and it took until just recently for it to slowly die... but as I recall, wood workers and moulding producers would source out Red Oak, White Oak and Yellow Oak as timber. Obviously ...

Re: "Paid for" advertising

I suppose I'd always thought that Facebook would be the best for 'paid for' promotion - it's a nice combination of visual imagery and personal interaction. As MarkW says though, you need to drive it hard. His comments about using iPhone for loads of business stuff got me thinking about the huge cha...

Are you going to cut your mounts to imperial or metric sizes? This John Lewis RMF is advertised as a 10 x 8 but they say "Please note: The inch measurement is a rounded measurement worked back from standard centimetre sizes." :Slap: John Lewis Frame Wow... I guess this is the English way ...

Gordon, The function of a "production Stop" or "Measuring Stop" on your Logan or any brand of mat cutter is to position the cutting head in the precise position for entry and "stop" it at the precise position of exit for the cut being created for an opening. Measuring S...

Question - Dried Lotus Flowers

Looking to see if anyone has framed dried Lotus flower receptacles in a shadowbox presentation?

I would love to see a picture - I may be able to use this in my upcoming trip to China - AFA Expo 2016.

Thanks,

John
