If you use Sellotape which is around the same as masking tape, you will not see it under the rebate, just trim after you frame, running a sharp blade around the sight edge

Some other things to think about. If you make her pay for the materials, she would be entitled to take them with her. Also it would fuel the their thinking that you were trying to rip them off, because if that is all it cost in material, why are you charging so much to frame these pictures, it's imm...

I try for the end of the following week, measure on Saturdays, order Monday for anything out of stock.
Every other week have a standing order of 500 to 750 mounts for one customer, so keep a couple of days set aside for them, and that's not allowing for the interweb orders coming in

Your first thought is the one I would go with, second one not a good idea, as you would have to space the glass off the watercolour which is what the mount is for anyway.

I would have replaced it with new piece of glass and kept the old one as an example of what happens when the work is up against the glass, kind of a Black Museum, good selling tool.
