straight cutter for foamboard...Logan 701

I've been using the logan straight cutter model 701 alongside the foamwerks W3001 metal ruler and have been getting mixed results when cutting 5mm foamboard. I've been trying to cut thin strips of approx 17mm wide and 25cm length to use on the internal parts of frame to create a shadow box frame. I ...

strong glue for internal foam board in deep box frame?

Regarding a previous post wanting econospacers so as to create deep box frame, someone suggested a cheaper alternative was using foam board strips for the inside of a box frame which I liked the idea of. I've recently purchased some foam board and was going to use a super strong double sided tape, b...

sourcing free/low cost maps online for prints?

Are there any sites that offer good quality free road/place maps like those found in the A-Z or offer a low download price per map? I'm looking to sell personalised framed prints that incorporate a small section of a map. I see on some websites that maps are not for commercial use or in some cases t...

Re: inner cardboard packaging protection or similar for prin

Thank you both for your help. I can't seem to find anything regarding simons back/1 online. Is this card protection or fluted board? Going on prices I might just stick with the current cardboard used. With regards to the box frames David, I'm just going with an Ikea shallow box frame as I can order ...

inner cardboard packaging protection or similar for prints?

Hi, thank you to some of you who have kindly replied to some recents posts of mine. I'm looking for alternative packing solutions when sending out an A4 print. The same applies to sending out a single mount board in the post. Some of my items don't fit into a standard cardbacked mailer and I still f...

Hiding tabs on the back of a frame

I've recently found a supplier for deep box frames but I want to reduce the inside depth, so have removed the original wood spacers and looking to make my own inner spacers (similar to econospacers) with 5mm foam board. Instead of the original depth of 25mm I am wanting to cut the foam so the inner ...

A4 white smooth wood frames

I've been looking for reasonably priced half decent quality contemporary A4 white deep frames. I've been using Rio frames for some time and these measure 25mm deep x 18mm thickness. I've had a few issues where the joins are poor and also it's obviously not a decent wood as the white material peels o...

best methods to mount a print on a backing card

I'm looking for the best method of mounting a permajet print on 240gsm matt paper onto backing card (500gsm). I contacted permajet directly with regards to sourcing the strongest bonding double sided tape and they have given me a link to a company. I'm just wondering if double sided tape is the best...

where to get these types of 3D box frames?

I've been using the Ikea Ribba box frames for most of my prints and have a new type of print that features a small scale model within the frame. The model is being made by a company in bulk but I'm slightly worried they might have oversized the measurements I have given to them as the original model...

Re: epson claria photo HD ink

Thanks for your reply David. I will definitely try that paper you mention. I havn't thought about UV glass as I've got a supplier for standard glass and I'm already holding large quantities of the glass myself as I bought this to place into the current frames I have been using as they currently come...

A few weeks ago I put up a post regarding dye vs pigment ink as I wanted to frame my prints but was using a standard dye based HP printer. I wanted to avoid using sprays to seal the prints for longitivity and know that a standard dye printer is not ideal. Therefore I've decided to go for a low cost ...

Re: advise on inkjet print outs

many thanks for all the replies. Thanks Lawrieh for your valued input regarding the difference between dye and pigment. For the moment I'm sticking with dye based purely as I've never had anyissues when printing with due based as long as the media is stored correctly. I've printed photos and had the...

getting a frame flush...which hangers touse for a newbie?

I have some mdf signs thatmeasure 24cm x 18cm and want to hang these as flush as possible. It's a quirky wall sign that is 25mm deep and also acts as a dog lead hanger (I guess some people depending on how they hang these might use them as a multi purpose hanger. I understand this isn't a standard f...

Re: advise on inkjet print outs

Sorry to add to this post but I've still been on the hunt for a good fixing sealer for inkjet prints and everything I've come across has a load of hardful chemicals and toxins. I can't possibly continue to use these sprays long term so was wondering if there were any finishing sealers that I could d...

Re: advise on inkjet print outs

thanks for yall your replies. I havn't thought about outsourcing because alot of what I do is personalised so I need to be able to do it there and then and then frame the finished piece. advise on inkjet print outs

Unfortunately I only have a run of the mill A3 HP inkjet printer although compared to past printers i've had, it does do some lovely prints. So far I've never used this printer for anything that i've considered selling, but would now like to use some prints as a backdrop behind some models that I'm ...

Re: keyhole hangers or something else?

Thanks for your replies. I'm thinking of going for something similar in terms of round hangers but just buying a 30mm round bore end bit for my drill. I've looked at some cheap routers on ebay and can get one for £30.00 which I'll do if my items sell but for the time being trying to do what I can on...

keyhole hangers or something else?

I'm wanting to find a way of hanging small framed printed mdf blocks onto a wall. The depth of the mdf is 25mm and the overall size is 24cm x 18cm so they are fairly small and lightweight. These are not a frame but more of a decorative novelty feature with a metal coat hanger attached which is actua...
