Re: pricing / visualisation software
You may be on to something, John. hah The US/Canadian market is fairly large as far as framers and those that utilize technology such as POS, CMC, conservation framing/materials, visualization, etc. A lot of other countries are, too. The 11 years of (US/Canada) tech surveys have been pretty consiste...

Re: pricing / visualisation software
Just one side note on the above post: The survey linked above was for the US market only, which is why some UK specific programs (such as the host of this forum) are showing 0%. That does NOT mean that they have a 0% market share in the UK. At some point in the future, I may conduct a similar survey...

Re: Do you use Frame Visualisation Software?
I think our shop was one of the first to go live with the current form of visualization, in March of 2005. In that time, we initially had PIF, but have since switched to FrameVue. We don't use it for EVERY sale, but at least 50%. It's pretty much a guarantee that it will "close" any sale, ...

Re: Researching CMCs
I would say our shop CMC does more than 90% rectangles/squares, but it always does an expert job; and faster. It's also excellent for multi opening jobs, ovals, debossing, vgrooves, and makes setting them up like child's play. We had a time consuming speed-mount type wall cutter until 2004 or so, wh...

Re: URGENT Help Needed - Internet Security / AV Software
Did you solve your Kaspersky/Norton woes? I use Kaspersky Antivirus (not the IS version, which would be overkill since we have a router already), on 15 different machines here in our plaza and home. I love it! While Norton brings a machine to its knees, Kaspersky doesn't. (performance hit) It is rat...

Re: Completly useless information - but interesting!
The Grumble is also servicing a larger geographic area and larger pool of framers (about 75x larger?), so this may be a factor. It's likely that more are using CMC's, POS systems, and have internet access at their shop(s). This forum is holding its own and doing very well. While every forum has a fe...

Re: Options and organisation of Computers
The networking part is very easy. As long as they're all plugged into the same router, they're able to be networked in seconds. (and they'll all be able to share your internet connection, and printer(s)). In our shop, we have 2 pc's at the front counter that use the POS (LifeSaver). The data lives o...

Re: Valiani New Interchangeable Head
I saw the new head last month at the WCAF Las Vegas show. VERY impressive, indeed!
We don't have a Valiani currently, but it sure makes buying one a future goal.

Re: WI FI?
Putting 2 DSL or CABLE modems on the line would require paying for 2 accounts with the ISP, unfortunately. That would give you 2 different IP's, and they'd want to charge for that. A standard router will split a single feed for up to 252 pc's, and assign fake internal (NAT) IP addresses to your comp...

Re: 6th annual picture framers TECHNOLOGY use survey
Those figures are pretty true of the US market, though.
Next year Ill try to break it into 2 polls. One for US only and one for UK. I think the results may be more meaningful. I'm sure ESTLite will be #1 on the localized version, hands down.

A special thanks to all who participated in our 6th annual framing tech poll. We had close to 200 participants this time. Most were from USA. Re: 6th annual picture framers TECHNOLOGY use survey
The results are collected anonymously through a third party website, and as far as I know - they don't collect information about where each vote comes from. If they do, they don't pass it along to me, because it might identify how some people voted. I know they track IP's to make sure no one is chea...

Re: Valiani support from Simons
A know a lot of framers who recently purchased these in the US market, either as a first CMC or as an upgrade from an older brand. I was able to play with one at a local trade show, two weeks ago, and I can see why there is so much excitement. The support forum is a great idea. I know the company ha...

Re: Need Framing Software Advice!
The automatic weekly price updates/changes are the TRUE VALUE of a POS system, in my opinion. That is the single most important feature that saves money, because you don't have to manually do the process and you won't be "leaving money on the table" (under charging, due to working from an ...

Isnt it crazy how the epsons waste so much ink to go from matte to glossy black?
We have an Epson 4880 and wish they had designed it to hold one more cartridge.

If the need is in the UK, your choice - without hesitation - should be EstLite . This product is designed for the UK market and has the proper measurements, taxes, and pricing for the UK. EstLite is the sponsor of this forum, in fact. In the US market, we have a lot of choices. The top 5 in populari...

The main page is a flash animation, which may be a partial factor. The search engines like to see indexable keywords, which they use (with many other things) to determine which search terms will get results. Perhaps just a small paragraph at the bottom of the main page, explaining what you do, could...
