Re: Safe storage of customers' artwork

We use Arqadia Visifiles in our plan chest and for more delicate items we have a shelving unit with the shelves quite close together so each piece gets its own shelf without the whole thing taking up too much room. The plan chest and Visifiles take most things though and they are great for protectin...

Rough Justice?

So yesterday morning while the family was getting ready for school and work, our elder son comes in to our bedroom with a tale of woe about his sore back (mainly due to growing pains) and how it might be easier for him to have a day resting it rather than going in to school. Knowing that he had doub...

Re: Help with Fletcher 2200

We needed to do some tweaks to our Fletcher to keep it running smoothly, and we also lost our allen key. We phoned Roy Rowlands and also spoke to him at the Lions event last October, and he sorted everything out for us. The allen key is an American one so may need to be sent over from there. Roy is ...

Re: Looking for a dense foamboard

We have used Mighty Core on many occasions and it is a really good dense foamboard to use. Cuts easily with a craft knife and glues well with PVA etc. Lions sell it in various forms and thicknesses, but there are also variations on the density so check out their catalogue. We tried to get some 13mm ...

Re: Man with a Van ?

Last year we invested in a new van with our logo etc on it and a CMC. Both have made a difference to our business. Our van is a Volkswagen Transporter with 2 rows of seats so we use it as our family vehicle as well as the work vehicle. The extra seats come out if we need to use the space. Before we ...

Re: most valuable piece you have framed

We have just had three bank notes in for framing: first one is for 500 million dollars the second one is for 100 billion dollars and the third one is for 100 trillion dollars  got really excited until we noticed they were from Zimbabwe :Slap: actual value - less than 5p for the lot of them! O...

Framing handpainted wallpaper

Hello All We have a customer who has brought in three rolls of handpainted silk wallpaper which they had commissioned. The silk has a paper backing. Each piece is approx just over 2m by 1m and of course they are unique. The customer wants them mounted on to board and then framed (without glass) in a...

Not ony did we learn so much more about the machine, even getting to see some of them being...

Thanks to those who responded. Unfortunately the customer took the bag away with her otherwise I would have done a bit of detective work on it. I guess I will just have to keep looking around. :head:

Re: Hello to all!

Hello Roundisland and welcome

What a shame you had to leave the Isles of Scilly - they are such an amazingly beautiful place and such a different pace of life that Penzance is such a shock when you come back on the Scillonian!

I hope your new venture goes well for you.

Re: Beware This Company

Hello Everyone Sorry to butt in on this, but having read one of Robo's excellent posts a while back I too put in an order to PEL for Melinex amongst other bits and pieces that I found on their website. Yes, I did read that the delivery could be up to 28 days which surprised me at the time because as...

Re: Anyone familiar with this moulding

Hello

Just as a thought you might like to try looking at Arqadia moulding 776 303 246. It looks a bit like it and might be worth getting a sample sent.

Hope that helps  and good luck.

Frame carrier bags

Hello everyone Just a little query that I hope someone can help me with please. A customer came in today with a really nice cloth carrier with a framed picture in that she had bought at a Castle Galleries branch. The bag had long ties at each side which meant the whole thing could be opened out to a...

Re: An opportunity or not?

Wow  thanks everyone for your really helpful responses on this. To be honest I think my lack of knowledge of art materials would have caused me major problems - I hadn't even considered the shelf life of paint! That has really helped put things in perspective and I agree that there are probab...

An opportunity or not?

Hi Everyone I have been framing for years, but am new to the forum. I have a framing workshop and gallery and when I set this up I kept very strictly away from art supplies etc as I really didn't feel this was my speciality in case someone asked for advice etc. :sweating: I have noticed though that ...
