Re: Wizard 8000 corner hook
It might be a problem with the blade cartridge. What happens if you put the old one back? Was this mat cut from the front or back? Somehow it looks as if it was cut from the from and it looks as if there is a slight overcut which suggest that either the Wizard needs calibrating or there is a problem...

Re: Bainbridge Mountboard
I received a phone call from Nielsen today. Not from a manager to talk about my problem but from someone who said that the moulding I ordered last week is being despatched today and will arrive tomorrow. That's good news except that I now have 150 foot of moulding from Simons that I ordered as a sub...

Re: Bainbridge Mountboard
Website (not updated this year according to the homepage) http://www.nielsenonline.co.uk/ It's obviously a website done on the cheap - I guess they said to the web developer 'here's our catalogue, shove it online'. Compared to Lion or Wessex it's c**p. I used to teach website deign at undergradute ...

Re: Visualisation/pricing software
Like Adam, I use it occasionally for visualisation. It's let down by a lack of decent help instructions or a manual but once you've sorted out the programme's logic it's easy to use.

Re: Bainbridge Mountboard
Anyway, I'll draw my rep's attention to this topic, Please do. And why you're about it please also ask him why: :: They would not sell me any Artcare Restore until the rep had called to see if I was a suitable person to have as a customer. :: When the rep finally did call he was quite unpleasant, m...

Re: Bainbridge Mountboard
Well I guess my problem is that I'm too small for them to worry about. Last week I ordered 150 ft of moulding (along with a pack of Artcare Restore and some mountboard). The moulding was to make some stacked frames so I ordered 150 foot of the other moulding from Simons for an exhibition. Two days l...

Re: Wot I Did On My Holidays....
I put it down to being in mid-Wales where there are more sheep than car mechanics. The next Honda dealer is probably 75 miles away so they don't have much competition or incentive. Still, they did give me a year's Europe-wide breakdown cover with the AA free of charge - which I've had to use a few t...

Re: Bainbridge Mountboard
After a struggle we managed to get a set of Bainbridge Artcare chevrons and supporting literature and I was keen to supply this aa a premium product. That couldn't have been easy. I have a set that is clearly out of date as I'm frequently told boards I order are discontinued. I've asked for a new s...

Re: Questions questions questions!
Unfortunately the Kistler books are no longer in print as the publishing company close when she died.
I have a complete set as pdfs that she let me have. I wish I could do something to make them more available.

Re: Wot I Did On My Holidays....
Well, a good garage is worth cultivating. I'd been having problems with the Honda CR-V. The engine would frequently cut out until I'd been driving for 15 minutes or so. Quite nasty when it happened in the middle of a roundabout or a busy road. It went to the main Honda dealership in Wales about 4 ti...

I must remember that. It's much better than my usual bald admission that I can't guarantee what a hand-finished frame will look like.prospero wrote:I tell customers that I adapt the finish to suit the work, not match a sample

The yellow ones are good. In fact they're so good I have two. Just call me WFATG2TG - or WFA2(TG) for those who like simplified expressions.

Calculating moulding lengths
Whenever I get an order for a frame in moulding I don't stock I generally buy two lengths for a small to medium sized frame (1 + 1 spare) or four lengths for a large frame (2 or 3 + 1 or 2 spare) on the basis that it's best to have a spare length in case I make a mistake and I'll probably use it som...

Re: Recognise this moulding?
It would have been helpful to add that
It's about 35 mm wide and about 25 mm high.
And it's not as green as it looks in the photo. It's cream with silver bits and a craquelure finish.
