Try Lion ‘Exhibit’ - L1400, comes with a matching spacer L1402. I’ve used it before and it cuts and joins well. Deep rebate at 48mm will hopefully be enough.

Sorry - should have made it clear - a stapler is exactly what you're after. It's a different way of fixing rather than using points and is much more adaptable.
