Re: World Record attempt
Are you making sure the driver is marking them as damaged? I'd start refusing delivery and let your supplier know why you've refused them. Our drivers have been chopping and changing during lockdown, we get boy racers, guys who throw the parcels down. I tell them to either change their driving/attit...

Re: Bonding canvas to wood
Have a look at Weldbond. I have it in stock because it dries clear. It says it does fabrics too. Very good bond strength according to some comparison tests I found online.

Re: Where do you find artwork to frame?
If artists are established and already with a gallery, then often the gallery will be acting as the promoter and agent and not want others selling the artists work. If the artist is selling their own work, then your commission means that for price parity they have to raise the prices across the boar...

Re: When to 'sub - frame'
I used to think "belt and braces" meant someone had overdone the work, until a carpenter friend told me that belt and braces was standard practice. Our job is to foresee any future issues and to remove the possibility. If I have a valuable and heavy piece I will always "over-engineer&...

Thanks. It's 10mm painted hardboard, that he wants floated. It's an understandable design choice, considering the piece and he's a discerning customer who I bend over backwards for. He spends a lot of money and sets me challenges that I always learn a lot from.

Re: Adhesive for gessoed board.
Thanks for the input Mark.
I think I answered my own question as I was writing it. I think I'm going to sand back the gesso in 4 places, back to barewood and try a water based no nails adhesive. It's a painting of sentimental value from 1939, so I'm wary of drilling into the board.

Adhesive for gessoed board.
I have a 10mm thick painted hardboard, gessoed on both sides. Customer wants it glued to a larger piece of mdf.
Any tips? Best to sand back the gesso first for a better bond?
TIA

Or you could buy a pot of liming wax, rub on, leave 10 minutes and rub back with neutral wax. (Onto a stained wood by the looks of it.)

Re: Adhering canvas to dibond with vacuum press
I've not mounted canvas yet, but in the Wessex catalogue, Hotpress specify the Dry Mount Film rather than the Unimount Classic film.
Best bet is to call Steve Goodall at Oldham branch Wessex, he's the expert and Hotpress trainer. 07585 138566

You can adhere the board to the middle section and raise the outer lip by adding a frame to the outside.
