Re: £9.99 electric stapler in Lidl today

I had about 6 or 7 years from a bosch with two batteries (18v) tended to charge them about once a week each. Yea they are/were supplied with good quality batteries, eventually it was only the batteries failing that retired it. Have had 14v ryobi in the workshops for a couple of years with two batter...

Re: £9.99 electric stapler in Lidl today

another thing with those batteries is not to let them get cold. I have some bike-cameras and regular cameras with nickel metal hydrite batteries and when I go on bike trips involving tents, even in the summer, I have to keep them warm in a sleeping bag or they are next to useless the next day and ne...

Re: working from home with visiting customers

A friend of mine set up a home-based business fifteen years ago framing from his converted 3-car garage rated as an artists studio.... He retired last year, and made a good living all the time he worked from home, converted the "studio" back into a garage when he'd finished framing in it. ...

Re: £9.99 electric stapler in Lidl today

when the batteries go flat dont charge them again till you intend to use it, every now and then (eg. every couple of months) completely drain and fully charge them. always flatten the batteries for prolonged storage. got that advice on the instructions with a power tool with nimh batteries. basicall...

Re: Staff Vacancy - workshop/retail | Penzance Cornwall

thanks John, we had a surprising response. Ten in the first two days, half of whom seem quite suitable. one of our lads is moving on to start his own business, and all the applicants so far are already in work, looking to change jobs rather than get the jobcentre off their back, so i guess its all a...

Re: Raising the Morso

1. I was not the OP. sorry my mistake. 2. T he guard was removed to change the blades. if you say so. 3. The morso IS bolted to the frame, and is as stable as it is on the floor, if not more so, so no likely to tip forwards, backwards or sideways. one would expect nothing less. 4. I am an employee, ...

Re: Raising the Morso

yes John, that's a very useful adjustment specially if you want to cut thick profile mouldings with new blades you have to set it that way to get the clearance. thats the position I set mine to. @IFGL, to the staff it's just a tool. they want to get the job done, their priority is the worksheet, not...

Re: Raising the Morso

it was just advice. horses for courses. not eveyopne is so careful. A lot of people raise their morsos just like you and have no problems (other than the machine tipping toward them when they do apply a lot of pressure on an unyielding piece of oak) My experience is that staff who do a lot of wide h...

Re: Raising the Morso

you can get a morso extended foot pedal, or aftermarket ones. 75 or 100mm, or easy enough to make up. if your travel is too far you will break the shaft it all swivels on. my old one was raised 25mm and it broke the machine after a couple of years. look at the mechanism and see how it works, its fai...

thats the sort of thing, but without the adhesive on it. it might just do the trick at a push though. a metre will be more than enough.
Thanks John, I never thought to search for window film :)

UV protection clear film?

I'm trying to find a product I once used. Its like clear cellophane and blocks UV. I can't remember the name, or where it came from. possibly a book-binders product?? I don't need much.... I can't find anything on the web, but it might help if I knew what to search for (a brand or generic product na...

Re: Framing without glass

I was going to say just do the job and take the money, its not your problem if the customer is an idiot. then something in my head told me not to. so there really must be something wrong with doing it. I used to do tapestries years ago for a lady who absolutely insisted on mounts and no glass, she a...
