Really sorry we had to miss it because of a prior commitment but looking forward to next year. Just hope the sun shines as much next year as it did this year.

Huge congratulations to everyone involved in the organisation of the event and all the winners of awards.

A most enjoyable weekend, probably the best yet - with a buzz throughout and a recognition that at last the Guild was moving forward into a new era to the benefit of its members. Stratford is a superb location with plenty to see and do, and of importance plenty of good pubs serving real ales.

The two seminars given by Susie Clark PACR ICON were excellent, providing those who attended with a photographic conservator’s perspective on the identification of, and the problems associated with the damage too and the framing materials and techniques one should consider when framing old photographs. Susie showed some superb examples of photographs in presentation cases highlighting the problems and damage caused by the onset of time and differing degradation processes.

This follows on from last year’s outstanding seminar and workshop by Joanna Kosek Head of Pictorial Art Conservation at the British Museum(BM) on the techniques used at the BM to mount and hinge artwork on paper as outlined in her book ‘Conservation Mounting for Prints and Drawings’ probably the best book on the market on this subject.

Both events represent an important part of the Guild’s Continuing Professional Development programme which aims to have a keynote speaker at its Awards Weekend along with seminars and workshops at its London offices, these events and seminars etc are open to all.

Next years framing competition subject is ‘The Magical Mystery Tour’ celebrating 50 years since the release of the EP in the UK on 8th December 1967. A subject that should inspire framers to be creative both in mount design and the framing of memorabilia from the iconic era.

Speakers for next years Award Weekend are yet to be confirmed.
