If you want to apply, there is still time - applications must be with us by 17.00 on Tuesday 1st November, 2016.

You can find more information, and download an application form here: http://www.fineart.co.uk/arqadia-scholarship.aspx

I know that you would have to be a guild member to take the examination etc, does anyone know if there are conditions regarding how long someone would have to remain a guild member afterwards?

I'm really keen on the training and qualification, but guild membership isn't cheap. Wouldn't want to be stuck having to remain a guild member for a certain amount of time because of the scholarship if I didn't think it was making enough difference to justify the moneys!

Cheers,

andrew

Just realised that seems like a really cheeky question. I wouldn't necessarily be paying the membership myself, so I'd need to be able to justify it to whoever is!

Hi.
Your question is perfectly valid, and not cheeky at all, in fact the answer will be covered in an upcoming article in Art +Framing Today magazine.

As is common with most professions which operate Continual Professional Development, to maintain any qualification and designation, you need to remain a member of the awarding body. This is the only way that your commitment to CPD can be monitored. If you discontinue membership of that organisation, in most cases, you lose the right to use their qualification. The Guild is now no different in that respect.

Q) What happens if I don’t renew my Guild membership
A) The Guild can no longer monitor your CPD programme, therefore you cannot use your designation GCF(APF) or any associated marketing material or logos. This is the same as with most other professions
.

You don't need to be a member to apply for the scholarship, but if you are awarded it, you would then need to join. As for your membership fee, rather than paying in one lump sum, did you know that you can always pay by quarterly direct debit.
