Rotten Frame.

Just completed this frame. Been working on it for a while.
The painting is a 'holiday' painting from Barbados. Fortunately on decent canvas and stretched easily.
I have lots of old planks in my backyard that are probably centuries old. The outer part of the frame
is made from one such plank that has been propped up the side of my shed for the last 20 years or so.
The nice spell of summer weather allowed it to dry out, so I thought the time had come to make a 'rustic'
frame with it. Although the edges had a nice 'filigree' and many a woodworm had chewed it, it was quite
solid on the inside. I knocked all the crumbly bits off, gave it a dosing with woodworm treatment (I think
the last worms probably died out in the 18th C.). Coat of clear shellac, coat of grey wash and a sand n' wax
and it came out bootiful. The rough bits aren't actually joined but fixed to a strong subframe.
Customer was delighted.
