Around the island race

Post by Roboframer »

Isle of Wight.

Was going to use formed rods, explained to the guy that they'd be visible, not a problem, it's solid silver and he'll never win another.

I used a formed plate hanger instead, with the hooks trimmed down 50% - it is after all, made from rods covered in shrink tubing and very very easy to do.

There's a rectangle cut in the mount board and a corresponding one cut in to 5mm foam board behind that, which the plate hanger sits flush in. A strip of 8 ply mount board goes through the plate hanger and is taped/PVA'd to the foam board. The hooks and the 8 ply board is all that touches the plate and it's solid.

I kept a promise made in Las Vegas and called to see Robo yesterday. :D
This job is stunning - !

Liked the shop - got the 50p conducted tour.
It is quite obvious to even the most unobservant that Mrs Robo aka Pat is slowly pushing Robo into a corner  :giggle:
The framing side of their business is getting "sweezed" by Pats superb range of quilting, embroidery, tapestry, and card making products. I have never seen such a comprehensive range under one roof on all my travels.I even bought some knitting wool!
But as Robo explained the finished job usually needs framing.
They get 50 - 80 customers a day through the door, and this surely augurs well for their future.

Thanks Robo - enjoyed the visit.

They're wooden fillets (or slips) made for edging mount apertures. Larson Juhl and some others do ranges of mouldings with matching mount fillips; this one at 3mm thick, is the thinnest available - the thickness of a double mount. Available from Arqadia, Nielsen and Mainline.

You were up early this morning Keith! How was the Microlight flight?

Microlight :D  :phew: Looking for a smiley called "brown underpants" No - it wasn't that bad - hard to relax 100% at first.

Its was memorable. like riding a motorbike at 95 mph, buffeted by the wind- but its looking straigh down which I found scary. It's better looking straight ahead.
We got to 2000 feet and my friend said "Bit choppy up here" - lets try a bit higher. Mins later above the clouds at 3000 feet. That was nice - still air - then we couldn't find a hole to come down through.

We fly over Angmering and I got some pics of the village green, your shop and the pub.
I would recommend any one if they have the chance to have a flight.
