routed sight and back edge standard ripple

Other examples using standard router cutters to achieve both ripple and spaced ripple effects. Very useful for sight and back edge mouldings.

I for one would find that very useful Geoff. :D

How fine is it possible to cut the patterns?

Hi Prospero,

Thanks for the enquiry. The effects can be as wide or as spaced as you like and the "fine-ness" if you like, relates to the cutter diameter used. I have some period repro cutters that are much finer than the examples pictured though the examples shown could, if required, be finer still. Not to everyone's liking I think but, stained, polished or whatever, can add a different perspective to a frame. Doesn't have to be an old looking one either.

Hi Geoff,
are you using a hand-held router + jigs / router table or a fixed router (don't know what the jargon is for this - I mean one that's built like a drill press)?

Best,
David
