Problem with clamps (Valiani Future from the year 2000)

Post by addisonyu »

Hello All!
The clamps on the Valiani Future mat cutter that we have suddenly stopped activating. When the machine turns on, there's a thumping sound, but the clamps don't activate. This machine unfortunately doesn't a manual mode where I can manually activate the clamps, however the blade head can be manually activated, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the air compressor; the regulator says that a little over 4 bars of pressure is applied to the system, and that amount has worked prior to this malfunction. Has anyone else had a similar problem with their machine? Is it actually a problem with the clamps, or is it more likely that one of the valves is malfunctioning? I'm a bit at the end of my rope here, and we can't afford to replace the entire machine. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Addison

If your machine is anything similar to ours you will have a few of these valves dotted around. They activate and divert the air around the system. they are about 2" x 1" x 1/2"
They can and do seize.
It could well be one of these. One of ours gave way and you could hear it trying to open but wouldn't. I hope this helps you out. fingers crossed for you.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for replying! Our machine does have one valve that looks similar to those in your picture. It definitely could have seized and stopped working. Is there any way to fix it, or did you just have to buy another valve as a replacement?

Thanks,
Addison
