hello everyone,
it has been mentioned before that it would be safer to have a UPS (uninterruptible Power Supply) as a back up in case of power outages, allowing you to safely close down your computer and Mat cutter.
do you have any recommendations as to what would be suitable to power both PC and CMC for at least 15 minutes?

When it comes to UPS's I prefer the APC brand.
Something like this (APC Smart-UPS 750 INET) will give you 16.4 minutes at 250 Watts (Half Load) and 4.8 minutes at 500 Watts (Full Load).
We have this brand protecting 60% of our server room and it is one of the best.
Out on my desk in the office I have a Belkin unit. This seems to be performing well also. Make sure you over spec it. The more its over specified the longer it'll last in a power outage.

How does your new energy generation idea stack up to a generator attached to your hamster's running wheel?

Great site Kev
Both a bit silly and very intelligent.
Lots of lateral thinking, and a very entertaining read.
