Changing the print head on Epson 1290

Post by Not your average framer »

I'm wondering about buying and fitting a new print head to my Epson 1290 A3 printer. The plan being to buy the head and fit it myself. Can anyone advise my if this is as simple as I suspect it to be?

As far as I can tell it is secured with a single screw and I assume that the head alignment would need resetting after the new one has been fitted.

Another problem is finding a supplier who is willing to sell me a new print head, if anyone can suggest where I can buy one.

It seems most, if not all are not willing to sell me one or confirm my assuptions about the fitting procedure. Instead they want to do the job themselves and expect me to pay a large call out charge. (Not if I can help it!)
