Computer keyboard sizes

Post by Not your average framer »

Is there any such thing as a standard size for computer keyboards? I'm making a new customer consulting table / counter and I'm getting a cut-out machined into the top surface so I can install a computer keyboard and tracker ball into the top surface, with the cables hidden underneath.

Thanks in anticipation,
Mark

Short answer - No there isn't

Long(er) answer - dependant on the functionality you want from the keyboard, they tend to fall into various standard shapes, if not sizes. You can also buy something like this which has a touchpad mouse built in (I find them easier to use than a trackball - less dust problems)

Sorry I can't be more helpful....

Thanks Tim,

That's very helpful indeed. That's an even better idea than the one I had. Thanks again, problem solved!
