Saw Blade sharpening

Post by A Few More Words »

Im interested to hear of people's experiences with sharpening double Mitre Saw blades. We run an old Nicoletti saw and when we fitted a new set (set 2 )of blades ( Freud Wood 350mm ) back in July , we got the ones (set 1 ) removed sharpened ( their first sharpening since fitting new a year ago ) through our blade supplier . I would have thought that they just needed a light touch up to regain their effectivness.

We have now fitted the sharpened blades (set 1 ) and are getting an unsatisfactory cut. ( and some vibration ) On looking closly at the sharpened blades it appears that excess material may have been removed from the teeth ???

Do you know what the desired sharpening process for these blades is ?? How is balance / re-balance taken care of ?

We have now swapped them out again and now have set 2 installed again.......which we can live with for a liitle while more ......Do I need to buy a replacement new set ? or Is is possible to get a good result with resharpening blades ?

Thanks
Tom
