A guy has just been in with a little engraving. Nowt much hateful about that.... :D

But he brought with him a framed one and wanted it exactly the same.

The moulding was a 1/2" hockey stick - nothing exotic, but I had to explain that to source that moulding would be
a mammoth task and even if I did find it, it would mean buying a minimum amount/carriage/pay though the nose/etc.
The job would, in reality cost me 100s and it's maybe worth £10 profit. Of course to the customer it appears that I am
just not interested in the job. Bad impression. Also the mountboard looked a bit distinctive. I could spend a few
hours trawling around a few colour charts and not find it. And if I did it would be disco'd.

It's like driving your 1975 Ford Capri to the Ford factory and asking them if they could make you another one.

I've got 100s of feet of the plain moulding that shape. I could and would finish it to the same colour, but it wouldn't
be an exact match. I suggested reframing both, which would have been a viable option, but he has a whole collection.
So away he goes in a slight huff to try elsewhere. I wish him sincere good fortune. :D

Thank You for listening to the Saturday Niggle.

Call centres who say " I'm putting you on hold for a sec. "
And then keep you waiting 2 mins.

Glass sealed with tape around the edge in a picture frame, the number I get in for reglazing, the customer tries to help by trying to pull the glass out of the frame from the front, so it's all sticking up like it's exploded out, so you can't lay it face down to take the back off to remove the broken glass, you have to do it with somebody holding the frame in an upright position while you work on the back :head: :head: :swear: :swear:
on the rare occasion I do it, is if it's a dark mount and I have been having problems with bits getting in

On rural trunk roads with few over-taking places, being stuck in a queue behind a driver nervously pootering along at 30mph and then seeing them accelerate to 60mph when we all get to a wide straight bit!
Oh, and people on BBC news who say con-Tri-bute instead of con-Tribute.

American pronunciation. Most of the time it doesn't bother me too much. But one word really niggles me.
I watch documentary channels on Sky a lot of the time. There are a lot of WWII docos which are very well done.
BUT when there is an American narrator, they always say "A-dolf". As in Hitler. The rest of the world including
Germany says "Add-olf". What is the problem???? Why doesn't someone tell them?

** There was a YouTube clip I saw about the MI6 HQ in London. That huge Lego building that doesn't exist officially.
It's called Vauxhall Cross. The narrator insisted on saying "Vow-hall". Americans are famous for getting totally baffled
by British place names and in some cases they can be forgiven. Have they never heard of the famous British car make?

If I can pronounce "Poughkeepsie" then surely they can say Vocks-hall. :D

New toilet rolls that you can't 'start' because they're so glued down.

A local pub charging almost £6 a pint, when a Wetherspoons a couple of doors down charges £2.40 for the same beer.

Drivers on opposite traffic lights still coming over when yours has gone green.

Predictive taxt

'Golfers' who don't replace their fairway divots / repair their pitch marks on greens.

Buying something pricey, then seeing it on offer soon after.

Pull rings on tins (usually fish) snapping off when you're starving hungry.

(And none of the above even make my top 10 :giggle: )
