Is it possible when I have posted something to receive a notification by email that there has been a comment left by someone?

First ensure that this notification has been activated:
  • Click on User Control Panel
  • Click Board preferences
  • Click Edit Posting defaults
  • Select Notify me upon replies by default:
While in the User Control Panel click the Profile tab and look in Edit Account Settings and verify that your email address has been entered correctly.

If all of your account settings are correct and you still fail to receive notifications, they may be getting blocked by your email spam filter.

You can also just switch on notifications for individual posts.
When you type your post just look under the save draft / preview / submit buttons for a checkbox that says "notify me when a reply is posted".
