I would point out that FB does seem to consume a lot of memory. For those like myself who have slightly old
PCs this can be a problem. As I scroll down the page gets very laggy until I can scroll no further.

Not trying to sound like an old fart here but it has to be said that FB is firmly aimed at a younger generation and the members
here are fully rounded adults and professionals to boot. :P OK, we all like a giggle sometimes which is what the 'After Hours'
section is for. :D But for serious discussions FB is not the place.

Speak for yourself!! I'm still reasonably fit for my age, I certainly wouldn't call myself fully rounded yet!!
" But for serious discussions FB is not the place." ?!?!?!?!? I think you'll find that the likes of Rob Markoff would strongly disagree... :shake:
As the instigator of the post, I've asked for it to be removed, as I don't think its particularly constructive or my best input into the group.

It's a closed group, the clue is in the name, "framers only" :giggle:

Sorry Allan, I misread your post. Surely a closed members only group is the only place to discuss pricing? Like our members only section on this great group.

There are a few FB framers groups. I occasionally look at them when one pops up on my timeline, but they are very hard
to 'follow'. Any pro framer can join if that's your thing. :D

Justintime has requested that this topic be deleted, so fair warning - I'll delete it at the end of today unless I get a very good reason not to. :D

Please don't do that Prospero.

Now that you have said publicly you're going to delete this topic I want to say please don't. If a moderator was contacted privately then the topic would have just disappeared and that would be that. But I think this is an interesting discussion and it shows how much support the forum has for it to stay the way it is :D

Hi Justintime,

Don't be embaressed about this thread, It was genuinely a meaningful subject which brought about some well reasoned discussion from both sides of the discussion and useful to understand some of the grassroots thinking amoungst some of the members of the forum.

Thanks for starting the thread,
Mark

Hello, I have nothing new to add but I'll say it anyway - I don't believe the forum would be as productive if it were on something like FB. FB seems to exist in the 'now' almost like live conversation. I'm a member of a few framing related groups on Facebook but I've found trawling through the comments sometimes unproductive & trying to retrieve something almost impossible. It's fine for cat photos or what you had for dinner but for this .... it's a no from me. I've been using Internet forums for the past 30 odd years and I haven't found anything else that comes anywhere near for ease of use and sense of community.

A while back I seen a photo of a dog fighting a lobster with a wooden spoon - at that point I thought my life was complete - there was nothing more to be seen...... until today when I witnessed the kernel of Facebook hosted in one picture, in fact I believe it almost made my monitor explode.

I'm literally speechless  :giggle:

Leave it as it is, I joined one or two groups on FB, mostly from the USA, so over the top framing, one posted a photo of a football jersey, took me ages to see the jersey !
Find most of them are so far up their a&&es , read one on the Grumble who reckons that no one should be able to use the same combination of moulding and mounts, as she does, it was her design !!

I love  this group as it is, we have got some fine members, willing to take the time to help each other, and the odd joke as well

There's a lot about this forum which real. We are what we are warts and all and a lot of have been here since a long time ago. Quite a lot on what this forum has become has evolved from the memership. There's banter, laughs, jokes and a lot of people on this forum find that this is a place where you are free to be yourself and I like to think that we are all equals and happily doing our own thing.

I think a lot of us like this forum, because a lot of us like each other. We share a lot of skills, training and ideas with one another in a completely unselfish way, why do we do this? Most likely because we care. You can't fake this - It's real, because we as members are not afraid to be real.

Long may it continue!

I use the Tapatalk app on my iPhone to keep quickly up to date with what is going on in the forum
I know not many of you use it and John very kindly reinstated it for me on my request. I do also view on PC but nowhere near as often than on my phone I probably check and read it at least five times a day.
I pay 79p a month for the ad free version of Tapatalk I follow over forums so I find it money well spent for the simplicity it offers.
This is a great forum I have learned so much so thank you to everyone on here
